Thank lol, no point running before you can walk! (still a bit of a noob) I plan to have this tank a long time, so in 5-7 years I can fil it with something completely different, species only I expect, maybe a Arowana or large catfish, or who knows!>?
Picked up a pair of silver/white? male sailfin mollys this afternoon, as i couldnt resist that huge fin They ARE in the QT!
So this tank could house 1 BGKF, 1 Oscar and some redtail tinfoil barbs.
After yesterdays antics of catching the fish, setting up the new tank etc , We(thanks Gem)
cleaned this tanks glass, I broke down the filter and gave that a clean up,
installed a new DIY spraybar wich reaches the length of the tank now, along with the external heater, and put in some new silk plants
most of the decor went in the new tank, apart from the biorb ring, that is where knifey likes to hang in!
Big thanks to Gemma and people on here who have given great advice as regards filter cleaning and the external heater installation
Cheers for now, will be back with some pictures of the fish soon.
Well took a few more shots this morning. Knifey seems to be overcoming his shyness, I put some more denser plants in and three plattys in
there too, just to eat any uneaten food and give him some competition for food?!
Got a shot of my Oscar too still in quarintine for now.
Hello everyone, I made a little video last night of my tank (spur of the moment kind of thing)
Had to treat the Oscar for an internal parasite as he stopped growing, but was still eating lots,
last day of the treatment today.
Bit of an update: oscar (4" now) had constipation too so fed it peas wich i read on here works,
wich it did. Tinfoil barbs have nearly caught O. in size ! knifey is growing well too.
Added some more fake terrarium plants wich I bought today here's some pics.
I think Oscar is happy on his new diet of not just pellets, but Prawns, Mussels, Cockles, Crickets
and the odd house spider that my girlfriend makes me get rid of!
O. is 4 1/2" today and the barbs are not far behind really
Added a Rio 800 powerhead today (birthday present with its venturi pipe hooked upto an airline aswell,
gives some good extra flow to the tank.
I *think* it's around 389L , would probably be 400L bang on if it didnt have the end corners knocked off
Its named as being made by "Reef"
A little picture update, Oscar being around 6 inches now and seems to be growing more tolerant of the barbs
and totally ignores knifey know he's at a decent size.
Still doing 25% water changes nearly every week, maybe 2 at a push, but all fish seem to be thriving!
using Blagdon de-clhorinator mainly for use with ponds but its so much cheaper!
