I finally took the leap about a month and a half ago, and bought my lil puppy. His name is Rosco and he's now three months old, and he's quite a handful! :look:
Here he was/is at seven weeks when we first got him..

heh.

Anyway, he's an australian cattle dog/ australian shepherd mix. Both of his parents are registered working dogs at a ranch outside of town. He's a born herder and it definitely shows! When daughter tries to get away, and Rosco wants to play, he herds her back into the position he wants her. It's a riot. He's a riot. I love him *sigh*
Thanks for looking.

it's the aussie in him. He has blue crescents. I wish I could get a picture to capture how stunning his eyes are, they're really quite spectacular!

Nice little aussie mix! Bred from working stock, forget breeding fish, you'll need to breed some cattle to keep him busy!

you don't even know how true that is! I wanted him to do sporty agility but I think he's going to go the herding route. He's not as impressed with a frisbee as I'd hoped he'd be but let a kid ride by us on a bike while we're out running and he's all kinds of fired up! I can't deny who he is. But he's so,so smart. He already knows sit, down, wait, stay, lay, but he won't catch a ball for anything  He'll fetch one, but if ya throw it to him it just hits his face. I'm working on it.
I'm moving about 60 miles from the city at the beginning of next year, to cattle country...literally. I plan to put him up for hire. "Mom needs a babysitter and I need a job!". He should have a good amount of proper schooling under his belt by then. And someday we may even compete.

Thanks for the comments, guys! I've been meaning to post his pictures since I got him. I'll update this thread as he grows. Which is happening quickly!

Boy, oh boy. Cattle dogs are so smart and stubborn. You're in for a long time of fun ahead. ^_^

hehe i knew he's a aussie, i want a heeler but i can't have anymore animals. i need a dog who's really active (but not too big)that'll keep me moving and help me lost weight. most likely I'll turn to a different breed but I so do love aussies.
the cats wouldn't be too thrilled...i can see that, a heeler herding the cats...when they're gone i can get a dog but my kitties still have quite a few years left. i cant wait

Too cute!
:hey: not what I pictured in my minds eye, but oh the love!!! As you well know.
Some dogs are just born to sport a bandanna...

I brought that out today and his face lit up as though it was the part of his identity that had been missing

Thanks for the comments, guys. He's just too cute (and rowdy!) for words.
Wendy~
I know, I know!! I thought about it for over a year before I finally took the plunge. Fate/the universe brought myself and Rosco together. The timing *could* have been a bit better but can't it always? it worked out in the end, and to sound corny..we've only just begun!
