I live in Spokane
Well ya know gixer......
You can kind of tell when a fish is bothered
At least you can most of the time and these two weren't bothered a bit as far as I could tell.......if they would have showed any signs at all that they were uneasy or scared or stressed I would have stopped
Plus, you get to see them so UTSHAY UPAY!!!!
I said I would write more about my Angel experience later, so it's later and here I go:
My 2 Black Angels always seemed to be "paired" up ever since I got them really, which was over a year ago. They usually swim together and don't really pick on each other too much. Well, after I got my 29 gallon tank and took one of the lights from my 55 and used it for my 29, my 55 gallon now only has one light on the right half. My two black Angels are in my 55, 21 inch tall tank. They live there with 4 Silver Dollars who prefer subdued lighting and a baby pleco who I'm sure doesn't mind the half lit and half unlit tank. After I took one of the lights out my 2 Angels started acting a little strange. They dominated the dark end of the tank and started "pecking" at any fish that would come over to that end, except at feeding time and then they would act as though they didn't care much. Well, I got on here and started asking for advice because I initially wanted the darker end to be for my Silvers but the Angels had taken it over and were starting to be mean. CFC told me I should put a plant "wall" up from front to back of tank on that darker end so the Angels would have their little "area" and the other fish would have their bigger "area". I did this and the other fish sort of left the Angels' area alone. Well, about 1 week ago I noticed that my female (now confirmed
) Angel, which is the smaller one, was getting FAT in the belly area and when I say fat I mean FAT like pregnant. So I started paying closer attention to them. About 48 hours ago, or so, they decided to spend their time in the lighted end of the tank
don't ask me why but they did. They also started to peck at the glass to "clean" it I suppose. So I made a pexi-glass divider and stuck it in the tank giving them a space about 10" wide, 12" deep and 21" high. An hour after I stuck the divider in the female started sticking her sticky eggs on the glass where they had been cleaning. She'd make a pass and then the male (hopefully) would make a pass, they both had their little tubes out. After every pass she'd make he would go behind her. The few eggs that would get knocked off in the process were eaten. She continued doing this passing act throughout the evening and is doing it today too. I believe this is how she is "fanning" the eggs. The male is doing it once in a while, but for the most part he is just wandering around his little space
. Now, after 36 hours about a dozen of the 100-200 eggs are white.....that's not too many I don't think. I can't see a little black thing in the eggs either, not yet anyhow.
