how are you going with light penetration?

also...

about the sand... are you finding that your ph is slightly high?

light penetration is fine, have quite a bit of frogbit on the surface nwhich can stop a bit of light but have just invested in some commercial reflective material, alot better than reflectors to line the top of the tank, which means a lot more light!

my ph is quite high anyway with the water round my parts, i would rather not mess about with the ph and just leave it as it is.....the bogwood i have added, i only half soaked so that the release of tannins may help to lower it a tad...

no i have harlequins and pristella tetra...initally, i had 12 harles and 6 pristella and they schooled together, however i added another 4 pristella so now have two sperate shoals. The harles stray in the mid--top area and the prsitella are mid-bottom area...

I saw your other tank, the Hex 60/70litre. I currently have this tank and it's interesting that you say a nightmare to scape and also to photo if you ask me?!

Do you still have this running as a second tank?
Can't wait to get a decent shaped tank

I think I'll keep my Hex when I upgrade as it's not worth selling for the money I'd get.

yea i still have that one, in fact its right next to my 125l tank.....its jujst hard to create a good scape in a small space, although i think i have done ok, tried to go with a central theme, with slate and bogwood, but i get bored quickly so like to change things about!

in my hex tank i have a very basic mix of shrimps, BN, neon tetra, black neons, black widows and a dwarf gourami, havent lost a single fish in that tank..touch wood...i want to change it hough and get dwarf puffers but dont know where to put the fish lol!

Can I ask with all the plants is it an issue cleaning the sand or do you just run the gravel vac a few cm about the top of it? Is it gravel or sand you have?

Any chance of a picture of both the Hex and the 125 together?

sand in the 125, and gravel in the Hex 70l

will take a picture tonight of both together!

cleaning the sand is no worries at all, i just swirl the sand with the gravel vac about 2cm above and it cleans it fine...im not really bothered about perfectly clean sand though! Im going for the jungle look.....im planning a totally rescape and new fish though soon....
