My 125l Tank...community And Planted *updated* 05/05/2009

its not a rock! lol its mopani wood.......

yea these pictures are about 2 weeks old, the elastic bands are hardly viable now! which is great.

Was thinking of maybe taking a lot of the slate and wood out,......or maybe only planting one side of the tank?

cheers, yea cant wait till the moss grows over the elastic bands and totally covers the slate and bog wood!

Try using fishing line instead of elastic bands. The elastic bands are more prone to degrade in your tank plus the fishing line won't stand out as much.
fishing line will degrade is sunlight any way found that out the hard way when a went fishing lol

or and btw i am just about to set ma first 125L tank up a hope it comes out as nice as that

nice one m8

cheers mate! im sure it will :good:

i have tried cotton, but it came loose very quickly, i also tried a hair net, but it also came loose and was worried fish would get stuck! the elastic bands are the only thing i have found to keep the moss secure, they have been on for about 4-5 weeks now, ill update some photos so you can see the progress

I think it looks great, nice plants and rocks etc. Looking forward to seeing latest photos to see how it's grown and changed.

great tank :)

whats the stocking please? :)

Will

2 bolivian rams
1 dwarf neon rainbow (did have 5 but had a lot of problems with them)

I love that tank, very similar to my old 38 Gallon. I miss that tank. Great job with the scape!

Hi loubega im setting up the same tank as you as we speak, but im going quite densely planted, what ferts and CO2 are you using?

hey truck........

yea my tank is quite densly planted, i use nutrafin co2 kit,. but ditiched the nutrafin sachets last month and gone for own yeast and sugar mixture...thanks for supercoley..!

i use ferropol 24 on a daily basis

then JBL ferropol on a weekely basis

few water changes....but with big filter lol!

also have lights on for about 8-9 hours,

this is the look im going for, birds eye.

i want a nice open scape at the front and densely planted in the rear and sides, concentrating on the corners.

im going hi-tech, presurized CO2 (once i can afford it, DiY in the mean time)
and im using the T5's supplied (well all the off the shelf equipment.)

im dosing TPN+ and im using tropicas plant substrate

ok looks good, cant really see the diagram...

i have a fairly open front and have planted the back heavily with java fern and swords, but the moss has really taken off now and looks ace...worth all the time and effort

im starting to attach a 2nd cansiter to the c02 system now, could be worth considering...have u got reflectors? what fish stock u looking 4?

ive bought the reflectors on Ebay, but the thing that Juwel have done is they have made the reflectors for both the T8 and T5 so the Juwel ones provide the wrong angle of reflection, so im going for the arcadia one, have you got T5's?

i think a 2nd or even 3rd canister would be good for your tank, let me know how it goes on, do you get algae problems?

my stock is all coming from the rekord,(see the sig) but my final stock will be

2-4 german blue rams

20ish ember tetras

and corys of some sort (sterbai probably)

but im keeping my bio-load as low as possible whilst keeping good numbers of fish, so i dont over do the nitrates. i like to keep things simple so 3 species max for me, once its finished, which wont be for a long time.

yea sounds good,

i have kept things fairly simple too, have a shoal of 16 harlequins

2 angel fish
2 bolivan rams
1 BN
1 SAE
1 dwarf rainbow...soon to be rehomed,

been really busy recently so havent taken time to fit another cannister....having a bit of trouble with algae...get hair algae grwoing on tips of the java fern and then also the furry type of algae growing on the broad leaves of the swords...so just reducing the amount of light time in the tank....

ur stock sounds good...i like having 1 big shoal
