More Cory Eggs

OMG OMG OMG they hatched :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:
wow they are so tiny don't know what i expected but they just look like little eggs with tails on them lol.
not all of them have hatched yet so not sure how many i have got will let you know
:hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

just thought of something else, is it ok 2 leave the light on in the tank or is it best turned of :D .
i know not to feed them till tomorrow, also do i do a water change tonight or leave that till tomorrow as well :D

I think you'll be fine leaving the light on in the tank, i did anyway and everything is fine :)
I did a water change the day mine hatched just to be sure. If you do do one then keep your eyes open for any fry that might get sucked up in the syphon :*)
Goodluck :D

Hi trace1 :)

I don't think it matters too much if the light is on or not.

I don't usually do a water change the first day, but I do remove any egg remnants or ones with fungus, once I am sure they won't be hatching. You can net any stray bits out. The fry are not what is called "free swimming" since they still have their egg sacs, so I try not to disturb them too much.

When I do water changes on tanks with tiny fry, I usually agitate the water a little and remove some, then add more at the same temperature. Depending on how much debris there is I do this more than once. This stirs up the bottom enough that I don't have to use a siphon hose. Since it's not cycled, there is no reason not to use lots of water when you do a water change.

If you use LiquiFry or something similar, you will find that the sides of the tank develop a film on them. You can leave that since the fry will eat the microscopic life that is growing on them too. If it starts to look nasty, then wipe it away, but don't worry about it otherwise. Mainly it's the bottom that you have to worry about, especially once you start feeding the microworms or other food. :D

hi inchworm

thanks for that was gona leave the water change tonite anyway as theres still a couple of eggs that could still hatch yet.
with them still having the egg yolks attached to them is that why they look sperm as my kids have called them lol.
they are wriggling about quite a bit as well, think there is 40+ in there now :hyper: :hyper: :hey: :hey:

Hi trace1 :)

Did you manage to get all the sand out? I think you can see now why I suggested doing it.

yeah i got most of it out, which i'm really glad i did but theres still a bit left in there which i'm know wishing i had got rid of as its so hard to see them, going to try & get rid of the rest of it in the next couple of days. :S :D

just checked my microworm culture & it already looks they doing well, looks like the top of the culture is shimmering, so i well pleased with my little self got my corys to hatch & grow food for them.
* pats herself on the back :D *

well all seems well with the fry so far, did a water change this morning & have given them some liquid fry.
when can i start giving them the microworms as my culture is doing really well & i think i should be able to harvest them within the next day or so. i've also got some bbs will this be anygood as well ???
thanks trace :D

You can start feeding them the microworms 2 days after they have hatched. Microworms are great because they can stay in the water longer then that nasty liquid fry stuff. Microworms are also full of protein, which is what your cories need to grow big and strong. They are easy to clean up, the uneaten ones will just clump up on the bottom of the tank and you can remove them with the net. Make sure you keep up with the daily water changes to get the uneaten food out and to provide them with clean water, which will help them grow faster.

Here is a topic I started to learn how to raise the fry:

Good Luck

Hi trace1 :)

Your microworms are growing very fast. It must have been an excellent culture to begin with. When it comes time to restart them, you can divide that between two containers. Then, the next time, divide one into two containers and add a little more oatmeal to feed the first. That will perk up again and tide you over until the other two containers start producing. It helps too, it you take the cover off and fan them with it every day. That gives them a fresh oxygen supply and I think it makes them grow faster.

Keeping a constant food supply available, and doing frequent big water changes, I find, is the key to success in raising corys. It not only helps them grow fast, but it keeps them healthy. :D

yeah seems to be an excellent culture, i got them of ebay but i'm pretty sure that its a member from this forum that sells them" nannypetals ".

hi all
well the fry are still doing well but i'm sure theres only about 6 survived :-( . but if thats the case then they will all be staying with us :hyper: .
i can see they are growing a bit already so maybe the mixture of microworms & liquid fry are doing them good along with the water changes they are getting :D
