Right,

Not sure what to do.

Black molly has a whitespot on its head. Also looked like it had some white bits round the mouth, but never looked at him so closely.

Stats

Nitrate = 20
Nitrite = 0
Ammonia = 0
PH = 7.4

My wife saw another molly (a white one) rubbing himself along the bottom of the tank (only for a second mind).

Tank = 300ltr
Filter = Aquis 1200

contents:

Lots of plants,
8 Zebra Danios
8 Black Widow tetras
6 Corys
6 Debauwi Cats
5 Mollys
4 Dwarf Gouramis
4 Three Spot Gouramis
4 Odessea Barbs
3 Angels

Help! -> I can put the fish in a cup or something (or a bucket)

Thanks in advance - SlyT

while your tank arrives id try doing basic water changes and reating the fish with white spot med, as it wont harm the other fish and it will help keep the white spot at bay in the mean time. x

Cheers - Id done 50% just before I noticed the molly.

I darent do any mor just yet.

Ill get some meds tomorrow afternoon.

Anything else I can do ?

How big are the white spot on the head.
Any redness to the spots.
The white on the mouth does it look fluffy, strands of cotton.

it did look like cotton I think.

The spot is quite small less than a millimetre.

One of the debauwis is lying in the corner of the tank, barely moving. Is there anything I can do for him ?

If the spots very small and signs of flicking and rubbing it sounds like whitespot.
The mouth sounds like flexibactor columnaris.

I would treat for whitespot first.

is it possible to load a pic up of the spot on the head.
As fish can get greyish white spots on the head and it can be a columnaris spot.

the debauwi. It may not be related, but is that behaviour normal, just lying there ?

Don't know anything about that type of fish. Sorry.

after the lights went out (11pm) he swam back into the shoal.

Ill keep an eye out. Will get some whitespot treatment.

Will the treatment damage my filter bacteria >

No. But sometimes whitespot meds can slightly knock water stats.
Methylene blue can wipe benefical bacteria out in the filter.
If you get interpet med or waterlife med you should be fine.

Just look for more spots just to make sure it is whitespot.
Good Luck.

Cheers - no other spots noticed.

worried this could just be a discoloration in the molly I hadnt noticed before...

Would it be best to wait and make sure it is whitespot, or is it safe to treat as "just in case"

Thanks wilder.

I worry for all of the other fish. Im probably over-reacting but there are a lot of fish in there, and they are all very dear to us.

It may sound awful, but I also worry about the expense if I lost too many / all.

everyone is still swimming around and happy, they all come out at feeding times.

Is there any safe treatements / remedies I can get on the way home from work tomorow? I was thinking of more stress coat.

I do need to put airstones in I think - I have some on order, should arrive tuesday.

Its always wise to have a whitespot med like anti whitespot med by interpet.
Myxazin by waterlife which is a bacterial med, or anti internal bacteria med by interpet.

Its best to increase aeration with meds as they reduce 02 in the water.
