I have a black and white spotted fancy mollie. I noticed today that the top of his fin is turning a bright yellow colour. Is this normal or does he have something wrong with him? Thanks

I have a dalmation sailfin molly that developed an orange color to his face when he got older.... how old is your molly?

i've only had him a few months but it is about 1 1/2 " long i'm not sure how old he is. All i know is that he's turning a bright yellow. Thanks

I had a black sailfin molly whos fin turned orange, he died a few days after.

Mollies, especially the fancier varieties, have a lot of different colors in thier lineage. These genes can get expressed at different times in their lifetime, so like SL said, it may just be getting older. If you look in the LFSs, most mollys will have at least some discoloration, i.e. some yellow spots in a mostly black and white dalmation molly, or blue spots. Most likely some great great grandmother was a yellow guppy or something similar, and those genes just haven't been complelely bred out yet.
