message for BOD re-Harry

this is harry - do you know what he is??

Can you see what in this picture looks like brown scuzz on the plant-life on the left on the fish?? This what is covering the gravel and stones etc. In the daylight, it looks white, though when the room is darker it does look brown.

I did a 10% water change this morning and it disturbed all the scuzz, making it float in the water.

I am going to test the water now

I have a tiny bit of that, on my hornwort plant. Crazy. I don't know what it is either. Hopefully someone will come along who can tell us.

strange!

i have just had a guy test the water in the oceanography lab next door. It was not quantative but from adding some chemicals to the sample i have, we have discovered there is nitrite (prob quite a lot) and some ammonia. eeek.

what should i do now??

Amonia and Nitrites in the water = Water change regularly (Daily) until levels are down to a safe level
