Do you all know of any issues of treating with both Melafix and Aquarisol together? Everything I've read has indicated that Melafix works fine in combination with other treatments, but figured I'd check here to see if anyone else had any experience...

It should be fine, but go very gentle with the melafix (or don't use it at all). What are you treating?

I have used them together but not in big amounts since I was only treating a 1g tank. I only used 1 drop of Aquarisol (I use it as a preventative in my betta tanks) and the recommended melafix amount and saw no adverse response in my Betta.

HTH. :)

I've been treating him for fin rot -- gave him a 100% water change and cleaned out his gravel, tank, etc. His fins are healing well with the Melafix except for his dorsal fin which has developed a hole. In addition, I'm a bit concerned he may have some sort of parasitic infection because of a small dot on his back that's not normally there and some very light whiteness around his face (which I originally thought was just due to water change stress, but may not be). He's in a 10 gallon tank, so I was going to treat him with recommended doses of Melafix (1 teaspoon a day) and Aquarisol (10 drops) for a week with a 50% water change halfway through and at the end of the week.

Does that sound reasonable? I've also added the recommended amount of aquarium salt.

(For reference, he does not have a filter -- we may install one soon, as was recommended a few weeks ago here when we started treating his initial fin rot issue. We're pretty diligent about water changes, though.)

This is the first time he's really had any issues in the last six months or so and I think he's generally still in decent shape -- he's slightly more reclusive than usual (hiding in different places than he did before) but still swims well and is as voracious as ever when it comes to feeding time. :)

Thoughts? Any reason in particular you said to be "very gentle" with the Melafix?
