So, a few years ago, my dad moved into a horse neighborhood and I begged for a horse, again, I was told no. So, I've begged long enough, that he's sort of given in. He knows I've fallen in love with 2 of neighbors horses. He's convinced the neighbors to sell both to me for a total of $1200. I have to work for him to earn that money, but he'll pay all their bills for those 6 months it'll take me to earn the money. I have to pay all their bills starting in 6 months, and find a place to board them, but, He convinced the neighbor to sell me them. I've considered them my babies since we moved there. I was there when my fav, Tiger Lily, was born. Tiger Lily is the daughter of the other horse, Moonlight Dreamer. Tiger Lily is such a little sweety, and loves to be petted, while Moonlight Dreamer is a pain in the butt! She bites and is very tempermental, but, I love them for those exact reasons. Some days, I want a challenge, some days, I want the sweetest thing ever, and I'm getting both of those!

On the left is their other horse, Willow. Tiger Lily is in the middle with her tongue sticking out, with Moonlight Dreamer on the right! What do you guys think of my new girls?

Wow misssmarie you've got a lot to do lol. I love how much you love animals. Horses are nice and those look very nice. I live in a horse neighborhood too but I'm really kind of in a neighborhood right next to the horse neighborhood lol. There's like 2 people in here that have horses and like everyone in like 50 houses in the neighborhood next to ours lol. But you've got a lot of work have fun :fun:

Yep xD 2 cats, 7 fish, 2 horses, and working on getting a dog or two! Who needs free time? Between my animals and work and school and this forum? I've got no free time XD But that's okay, it's practice for the future I want! Which is running a farm! :p

I want to be either a vet or a marine biologist. Are your only fish bettas or do you own others?
I've got a little free time between school, this forum, my fish, researching more fish, getting more fish, a dog, baseball, basketball, and occasionally hanging out with friends. Usually on Fridays and Sunday's are friend times.

I currently only have Bettas and Killis, but, I'm working on expanding these to get some tetras or galaxy rasboras!
Oh - did I mention dad lives 45 miles away xD

I am jealous!
I used to have horses, my first was a bright bay new forest x thoroughbred when I was 12 .... many many years ago
Then I had a 6 month old dun ( I think you call that colour sorrel or buckskin) colt.
After that I had several more over the years, including an ex racehorse
They are such beautiful animals, I've never lost my love of them.
They're a lot of work, but the reward is the huge amount of pleasure you'll get from them

I wish I could have horses. I used to ride when I was younger, took lessons for English syle riding and everything. I got really good at jumping and such (never did shows) but I haven't ridden in years. I miss it a lot.

Your horses are beautiful. You will have a lot of fun with them, and they are very very loyal animals.

These girls are the most loyal ones ever already. I'm so glad I'm getting them. Their owner I'm getting them from is very whip and spur oriented and has heavy hands. Tiger Lily is just turning 3, so her training is completely up to me. I kind of have a training plan ready. I'm hoping to ride her in the Xmas parade this year!

Glad you got them away from him. I hate people who are heavy handed with any animal, especially horses

I've always hated that neighbor, but, I've pretended to like him because otherwise I wouldnt be able to see them. I clean their stalls, groom them and all that everytime I'm over. I have no doubts that's why Moonlight bites :/

Hopefully with you she'll learn that you're kind & there's no need for her to bite anymore

I hope so... Now I just gotta pick her halter color. I've been collecting halters since I was like 10. I have 5 horse, 3 yearling, and 1 draft halter.
There's a chance Moonlight is once again pregnant. Poor girls been bred yearly since she was 2. She's 8 now. She'll never be bred again. I had it written in the paperwork if she's carrying a foal or becomes pregnant, they have no claims to it. I have a friend across the street from them who I know and trust helping to make sure they're treated right.
I made arrangements to rent 2 stalls and a pasture 15 miles from my new house for $75 a month. I can get another stall for $20 more Just in case she is
I'm hoping to train Tiger Lily to go bitless. She seems sweet enough that I don't think it'll be an issue. She's very willing to listen to me.
Im thinking a red saddle pad since they'll be sharing for now. Or what color would go good with a black saddle? Dads giving me a $450 budget for a saddle for my bday, and i've got my heart set on a black one.
Btw, I forgot to say their breed they are both Appendixes - Thoroughbred x Quarter Horse. They're a bit on the smaller side of what I like, about 15.2 or so, which is a good size, but I tend to go for 16 - 18 hands.
I'm going to train Moonlight on a gentler bit, the one they currently have her in is very harsh :/

I still have a lot of my halters & stuff in the loft.
I used to go for red or blue halters,, but for the numnah I had sheepskin.
I've never used a hackamore, but if she's mouth shy that's the way to go.
15.2 is a nice size, my biggest mare was 16 .3
Sounds like you've thought everything through, I'm sure they'll do well

Next on my list to buy is a surgincle and another long line. What color saddle pads would you guys get for Tiger Lily and Moonlight?

I forgot you don't use the same kind of saddle as we do.
I think a red one would be good with a black saddle
