Meet My New Horses!

What color halter for who:
Pale purple
Sky Blue
fern green
Light purple

Fern green for Tiger Lily & Light purple for Moonlight Dreame

I'm glad we agree lol. I was thinking blue or green for Tiger Lily

Omg. My aunt caught me looking at this breeders page. I'd been wanting a registered horse to show in western, and she said that if I passed this quarter with straight A's, she'd buy one of them for me. Im scared something bad is happening?! I mean, last time we talked there was a giant fight between me and my dad and all that... From no horses to 2, and one more possible?! I'd have to get a better job to pay for them, but it's doable. From this breeder, who should I get:

I'm thinking:
Pure Southern Style (2010) - has a wall eye
Cash In My Spook (2011) - sires line has bucking history
Stamped With Style (2011)
Wyoming Fire (2011)

Tbh, I'd wait & see how you do with the 2 you're getting before getting another
It's a huge commitment.
If you do decide to go ahead with another, then I like Stamped with style, always had a soft spot for roans

Oh yeah, I'm not going to rush into this. I know how much work it is, I'm going to see if I do well with two, and if that works well and I feel prepared, I'll get a third. Otherwise, I'll ask her to get me new tack or some lessons with one of the big trainers out here or something fun and helpful like that

That's a good idea to get a trainer to help you break in Moonlight.
I only ever had one horse at a time as stabling here is expensive, as are vet fees, farrier fees etc

Oh yeah, stabling here is $275 for a partially covered paddock. I'm only getting it so cheap because my friends mom bought an old horse rescue so she has a few empty stalls. I can lower the prices by working out and helping her with her animals of course. If you put away $40/month for farrier, you're good, for vet put away $64/month and you'll be okay!

Oh, i picked the tack I want!
this saddle in black
this saddle pad in Cheyenne Hunter

Nice choice of saddle pad, like the saddle too.
Over here we have to have specific size saddles for each horse, & if you have a horse with high withers, then it has to be a custom made saddle.
I'd love to ride western style as it seems such a comfortable way to ride.
I'm starting riding again in the spring, I'm sure my muscles will complain for a while!

I'm glad you like the tack I picked!
I adore western, I honestly have a strong dislike of English. Then again, I'm a farm type girl. I see no point in English riding, to me, it's just not functional enough.

Well, I just got my hands on a $10 old bridle! It needs some cleaning up, but, its definitely gonna be usable! I have to say I love cleaning tack. I used to take my tack home to clean. This'll be fun! This is a pic of the bridle:

Well, I called a vet to come take a look at the girls, and do all their testing, because, they have never been seen by a vet before. I hope everything goes well, and I'll post an update as soon as the tests come back on Friday or so.

Its interesting to read this thread, as Cazgar said we called things by different names in different countrys, its strange :)

I had a horse until I was 16 then sold her due to time and money. I put a add in a local horse paper with her freeze mark asking if anyone knew of her where about's never expecting anyone to actually ring.

3 weeks later they rang me, i was a right mess crying my eyes out. I went to visit her and as much as i loved seeing her again it absolutely killed me, I cried for days after. She was a light bay 14.3 mare called Sally.

I actually studied Horse business and management at a equine college, unfortunately I only lasted 1 year as I wanted a full time job so I could by a car :(

Some lovely horses you have there missmarie, I love dilutes
Your very lucky to have a dad who is doing all this for you.
The keeping of horses isn't cheap in the UK, its not so much the buying them its the feed, livery, farrier, vet bills etc. I cant believe how much things have gone up in 8 years since I had horses

I dug out some old photos of my horses, sorry about the quality, they're very old.
This is Twinkle, my first pony, I was about 11... Don't laugh, it was the 60's!

I'm glad my dad convinced him to sell me the horses, so, I'm now working on getting a better paying job so I can afford them and all their supplies, as well as vet, farrier, and board. The monthly cost per horse I've figured out will be about: $449 each
Those are some stunning horses Cazgar! I absolutely adore the last one, Bridie, and Duncan!
I'm so nervous to see how the coggins test comes back, because there was a horse in the neighborhood a while back who had it. I'm probably overreacting, but, I'm very concerned that if one has it, they'll both have it because they share a pasture...
