This may seem a bit of a daft question ........ but then again, the only daft question is the one you don't ask ...... so here goes .....
I have the Hagen Mini Master Test Kit. Each individual test has its own booklet which explains how to perform the tests and how to read the results. On the back of each booklet are the coloured squares with an indicated place for presenting your test sample. It says you should put the booklet behind the sample when reading to prevent light shining directly through the tested water.
But my question is how close should it be. If I hold the booklet right against the test tube, it casts a shadow on the sample and makes the colours much darker. If I leave a slight gap ( a couple of mm ) then the samples are always much lighter.
Obviously I want to make sure I am reading the results correctly, but depending on how close I hold the test tube to the results card can make a big difference in the colour match.
I hope that makes sense.
