Male Peacock Gudgeon hiding or dead?

River rock spread Out would look odd I agree but I have seen some scapes using it and it’s definitely on my todo list because it looks very natural, river rock with wood especially. you can attached plants with glue to all surfaces it’s great! I previously tried thread but it was too fiddly unless I was using moss. When the plants grow you won’t see glue.

as you can see I have also have ALOT of caves

all my plants are glued to loose rocks so I can move them with ease.(larger rocks have nothing glued to them) Just a few crypts, Vallisneria and rotala are not Obviously Glued.

Very nice looking aquarium btw

How do you suggest I glue the ferns to the smoother stones? How long should I hold it to the glue for it to have a good hold?
Little bit on damp rhizome and little bit on damp stone not to thick to cover rhizome. I hold on for a few seconds and hold together then either spray with a water spray bottle or dip in a bit of water from the tank in a container and the glue is solid.

always use gloves as this glue is strong And will stick anything rapidly.

was thinking can’t you spin the rocks to keep the worst holes at the bottom or are they the same every way?

100% agree with pull out and put back first.

Thank you,It’s work in progress at the moment that’s Why it’s good to have plants you can move. I like the idea of low tech plants with minimal ferts and no Co2. it’s a part of the hobby i am getting into.

Trying to keep the tank scape alterations to a minimum at the moment as I have breeding fish. keeping my eye open for a second main tank so I can aquascape correctly Rather than bit by bit with my fish in it. I only have a second tank which is 14 gallon but only Used for spare plants when I had them and a hospital tank If need be. (overkill I know 😂)

Hate to say I told ya so... My dim gut feeling was correct! He was alive but stuck in the exact rock I thought he was in! Turns out the female was with him and they were right next to each other... I was able to shake the female out in the water and then I was able to get the male out as well, he'll be a bit skittish for the next few days but heisright back at it with flaring at the female 😅
