Malawi Tank

£15? Tizers were cheaper than that... ;)

Quite liking the frontosa and lelupi combination now!!

Tank is 4ft. Would they be ok in a 5ft for good eventually? May go with 3 or 4 frontosa and 8 lelupi?

I personally would feel comfortable putting that many in a 5 ft. I think the size tank is for them to grow properly. Like I said, they don't speed around much. But if they get spooked they shoot off like rockets!

So yeh, i'd be comfortable with 3-4 fronts and 8 lelupi. Someone may disagree.
Also, make sure your tank has a good lid. When my front was in his old tank, he just had a glass lid with a gap at the back to let the heater etc in. And he used to sit at the bottom of the tank, line everything up, and jump out the gap! Something to be weary of :)

I picked 2 petricola for £10, but thats because they were freebies to the fish shop by the breeder and they didnt even want them or understand why they had been given them. I snaffled them up quickly. The problem with them being so small, (inch and a half) is that im not 100% if they are petricola or Lucipinnis. They need to mature a little before i can tell really. There is a great article here that will give you info on how to tell them appart.

Either way, they both have a more chilled out attitude compared to multipunctatus and in my eyes, probably the coolest cat in the tank.

BTW, this guy might be able to help you out

a fiver each? awesome! :hyper:

I love way they just bimble around the tank together playing follow the leader ignoring everyone else. Makes a nice contrast to the wired-with-caffiene personalities of most african cichlids.

yeah, was a good find, i went to another shop straight after to see if i could get more (i want 6) but they were up there at £15 each, tank bred. Not that i object to tank bred, but i didnt have the cash to get them at the time. Bonus next month so i might just go treat myself. :) Mine just cruise around without a care in the world, weaving in and out of the wood/plants. love em!

Thanks gidge. The tank is covered so that's one less problem. Lol.

May have a look around at wharf aqtatics and see what they have. They have some other blue stripe tanganyikans in, maybe an option.
