I dont know if this has ever been done but Im wondering if the chances of the fry and egg survival. Will increase if I put something black on the bottom since the fry/eggs are white at the beginning is like spotting a lake in the middle of the dessert. Well im going to try this experiment in my next spawn either Wuvs CTs or another HM pair that I will get...Hopefully, -_- .

What im planning to use is construction paper black color

So u think this idea will work....?

i dunno, do bettas rely use their eye site to find the eggs or do they go by taste and smell?
Thats what I also wanted to find out

But if they can see live food and other males I think they go for the sght

How do u think males flare at eachother.... ;)

i kinda doubt itll do much.. but might be easier for you to see the eggs and fry

Actually I've read quite a few places to put something dark under your spawning tank for this very reason. Smart thinking! So you're not the first to have this idea. I've always done it, have a black garbage bag under mine.
