:p No Bettas really but it got you in here didnt it

I found these two 12" long peacock bass in a shop cramped into a 4 foot tank being kept with a very large aggressive catfish (Wallago attu to those which it means anything) which was bullying them non stop, one has damage to both eyes and seems to be completely blind and the other has damage to one eye though it appears to have healed well, theyve put me to be over stocked but i couldnt bare to see such beautiful fish being treated in such a way so the mrs treated me to a early birthday present

peacock bass are Lovely Fish.

I can't believe they had housed them with such a beast.

I must admit I had to double take the topic and the author :D

They look nice. I'm surprised you didn't get the cat though (what better excuse...I have to save those beautiful fish by taking the naty one out).

Wallagos are a bit too much of an aggressive fish for liking, full grown wild adults are said to eat people in their native country!! Also a 10 foot long catfish requires a slightly larger tank than i'll ever be able to afford without a lottery grant

Beautiful Fish CFC, A 10 foot catfish makes me shiver, biggest ive ever seen is a 4 foot 90lb Blue Cat in the Mississippi.

Thoe peacock bass still get pretty large though dont they?

They average at about 18" in captivity though i have no idea how old these two are or how their ordeal will affect their growth so they may not grow any larger.

Theyre not related to north American bass and are actually Cichlids from South America but yes they grow quite large and live in rivers.

Oh ok. The Peacock Bass Im familiar with get extremely big, and I couldnt imagine having one in a tank. Im not familiar Cichlids at all. They are very beautiful fish..

I learn something new everyday

 they havent yet but they are still quite stressed from the move

Nah, just rob a few banks, mug a few rich snobs at gunpoint.... Easy peasy :)

Looking good, a nice predatory cichlid thats for sure... Maybe you could take some smaller ones off our hands from work... :p

Hope the blind one does ok, shame to see a fish in difficulty thats been inflicted by man..

Ben
