I'm having another Mini Cycle in Tank 1..with 0.25 Ammonia every morning.
One Platy was looking very sorry for himself this evening and hiding behind the filter, so i tested water again 0.25 for ammonia again...
So i do a big W/C....
I'm not sure if other peoples Cary's or Cardinals are scared of the syphon....but mine always have made a beeline for the tube....
yes you guessed it....a Cory had the ride of his life...i have done this before and the Cory was fine...
I am no way sure if it was the same one as i sucked up, but one looked strange...usually they are on the go all the time...this one was still. I even wiggled my finger near it. NOTHING.
I fish him out and put him in clean dechlorinated water.but he went downhill(well upside down) quite rapidly. Couldn't stay upright.
He eventually gave up his fight and passed away. Could this be shock?? He/she looked perfect..no marks at all.

:rip: Karl the Panda Corydora xxx

Sorry for your loss :rip: - Panda can sensitive to water quality and could well have suffered ammonia poisoning

Did you acclimatise the panda before putting it in fresh dechlorinated water?

i had 6 Pandas and this was the only one effected. I have been doing daily (sometimes two) waterchanges everyday. MiniCycle was only 2 days. and the W/C's were big 80-90% ones.So i dont think it was Ammonia.
I didnt aclimatize, but the water was the same temp as the tank roughly. So unlikely. I have some pics if it will help..but he looked fine.

Putting any fish into fresh dechlorinated water, even if the temp was the same, will shock them, the conditions of the tank water is what they were use to,although we do add it on w/c's,the stress on the fish of just dumping it into entirely different water can lead to its death, plus being sucked up don't help...

stoopid Cory's.. i sucked up another one today...i had my finger over the end too...was just changing buckets and she(i think) went up!
She looked shocked for a while..but then skitted off and started sifting sand again. seems fine tonight.

lols, i do it occasionally with my fry :) i've got a stocking over the hose pipe now

lost another Cory last night. But she had the last laugh by her sting finding it's way into my hubby's thumb on disposal.

Didnt know they had a sting until now.??

This one just seemed to keel over...weird

Yeh, they can hurt like buggery :D Which is why you gotta be careful with the net :)

Poor Pandas :( Lost a few myself :(

They are so cute...just making sure my water is tip top again before i add some more.

UPDATE...
Lost 3 now....they are fine..water is fine...then one keels over on its side and slowly dies?
I only have 3 left now....i want to up numbers..but need to find out why they are dying? could a ph drop do this?
