Do swordtails get lonely when they are by themselves without another of about he same size? I've had 4 fish die in the past month. All of which were swordtails. The cardinal tetras and rasboras are fine. Now, there must be something in my tank thats not good for swordtails, so i fear buying a friend, because i don't want it to just die. Will it be fine by itself?

Second question, do swordtails swim around with ones alot smaller. The one left did give birth, so I have about 15, hoping to end up with 3 more. When these get bigger, will the one i have left swim around with the babies? Or is another big one the only choice other than letting it be alone?

Females (no long tail) can but don't have to be in groups (group meaning 3-4) Males (long tail) will kill other males. If you have both, you should have 3 females to one male.
