Fish Addict
In Canada we have a pet store chain called Pets Unlimited. I have mixed feelings about them because they sell puppies, and I normally fiercely boycott every store that sells puppies, but their fish rooms are always so stellar I can't help but pop in every now and then just to admire them.
Their fish staff are I think the only employees in the store who really, truly know what they're talking about, and their bettas are, in most outlets, kept in individual compartments hung from a specific, softly-lit section of the wall (less glare than the normal store lighting). The compartments are bigger than any ridiculous deli-dip cup- about the capacity of a mason jar, but wider, so they have room to really stretch out, and they're individually lidded so they can't jump out (there's a small hole in each to allow for oxygen, of course).
I talked to one of the guys the other day and he said they get amazing turnover so they don't even have to stay in those quarters very long. The fish room people are always cleaning out a tank or dealing with the fish, unless they're busy educating a customer, and I only wish the other stores I've been in showed the same kind of dedication to their stock.
