Liverbird's New Fishless Cycle

Yeah I think it's usual for them to spike before they get controlled. Have they gone off the chart? I think mine did but only for about a week or so.

Yeah the Nitrites and the Nitrates are off the chart. Ammonia always drops within a few hours so that's good. Was wondering if the high Nitrates would have an adverse effect. Will leave it for now and see what happens, i'm in no hurry

Yep, I swear that's what kicked my cycle into almost finishing.

Get your buckets out!

Right, have done a 90% water change as Nitrates are way off the scale. Hoping it will make a difference to my ever increasing Nitrites.

Ha, excellent.

I really think had I done my big water change sooner I would have been cycled sooner.

It's funny how you just get that feeling sometimes, I have loads of times.

I did today funnily enough.

Hey liverbird

I was just wondering if you knew when your N-bacs where getting through all the ammonia?

Hi Londonguy my 5.0ppm of Ammonia is currently being processed to zero in under 12hrs and has been for 17 days.

Hey liverbird

Hi Londonguy my 5.0ppm of Ammonia is currently being processed to zero in under 12hrs and has been for 17 days. I think there was a couple of weeks before this when the 5.0ppm was being processed in 24hrs. So in all i've had just over 3wks of daily 0ppm Ammonia readings.

Good to hear :good:

I was wondering about your N-bacs?

*Edit*

Please excuse me liverbird. It appears my brain is working at a slowed pace today, I blame the heat. I was reading your log wrong completely wrong and confused the 12/24 hour slot.

My apologies.

The Nitrites process to 0ppm within 24 hrs and have done for a while, i'm trying to get them to process in the 12hr period which it did a couple of times and then produced a massive Nitrite spike which I have had for about a week. Did a 90% water change yesterday as Nitrates had been off scale for a while and this mornings test had the Nitrites drop from off the scale to 5.0ppm in 12hrs so hopefully the water change has kicked it back on the right track. Will find out as gonna do my testing now.
