How would you light this aqaurium properly? its a 16'' cube the light thats there atm is just a filament bulb and i dont think thats the correct light for plants...

it has been replanted now though.. and with some more decor.... no hood makes it a pita to fit a light

arcadia 11w arc pod. costs about £25. i have one for a 60l hexagonal tank and it works really well and my plants like it. you can get a 9w and an 11w so maybe your tank would just need 9w

if you can find one a 24 watt PC lamp from interpet would fit

but theyve discontinued it so second hand is the only way

i think im going to get the fluval u3 that comes free with pfk subscription run both filters side by side, would that and my interpet pf2 be enough filtration for 3-4 dwarf puffers?

a fluval U3 on its own would be good, but run it along side the PF2 for 6 weeks and then slowly remove the media each week from the interpet

I would put an Ikea GLOBAL 11w desk lamp on it, cheaper than the arcpod, and less flimsy (my two arcpods are held toegther using cable ties).

The ikea lamps take the same type of bulb, and the one that comes with them is fine for plants and looks brighter to our eyes (but may be a bit yellow for some people's tastes). You can replace the bulb in it with something more sutited to your tastes an still save money on the arcpod too.

could i run 2 of those? for that price it would be rude not to... could time them cleverly to simulate dawn/dusk aswell

You could run two, yes, would give you fairly high light though, unless you want to dose loads of ferts and co2 to avoid algae, only run them both together for a few hours a day .
