There must be some fat, happy mice in our garage.  I just went to get the supply of bird food out and there's nothing but empty fatcake wrappers and peanut shells left!

Had my first baseball game of the season last night. We won 3-1, I hit a 2-run homer my first at bat, and a single my second. I also pitched a perfect inning with 2 strikeouts and a groundout.

Woss a groundout?
When the batter hits the ball on the ground to one of the fielders.

Its hit to any fielder and then thrown to a base that a runner is forced to run to and the fielder there catches the ball and touches the base before the runner can get there.

If the runner reaches the base first, he's safe.  If the ball reaches there first, the runner's out.

Yeah i used to play baseball and i was pretty good at pitching but i could never hit the ball, but when i did i sent it!

blah blah blah, footballs the game, i played defense way back when

If you were good enough at pitching, no one would have cared about your inability to hit the ball.

Anybody talk about Sandy Koufax's batting average?  Or Cy Young?  Or Nolan Ryan?

Yeah no one really did but i felt like an idiot everytime i struck out.  I never truly loved the sport anyways so after getting a couple of line drives at my gut and one to the hip bone i slowly backed away from playing.

That's the hardest part about pitching, outside of actually doing a good job throwing the ball...  Pitching is just a dangerous spot.  Back when I was coaching middle schoolers, I was throwing batting practice (from about 50 feet to save my arm, without a cage of course, because it was middle school after all) and I had a line drive hit straight back at me, and hit me on my knee (on my landing leg) so all I could do was take it.

Made a loud noise, bounced off my knee and went flying way back into the dugout area.  Kept going and by the end of practice my knee was nearly triple the normal size.  Feels better now though.  Took a while for the bruise to heal up.  Fortunately there was nothing more to it than that.

Yeah i would of stayed with it if it interested me, but i like running track much better

That's what I thought - the same as our "rounders"
