im not really a big fan of that kind of fish although im coming round to arowanas but think i would prefer another cichlid of some kind.I'm not sure they would be big enough, but what about a top-dweller group like African Butterfly; Golden Wonder Panchax; Thoracocharax stellatus; a larger species of Halfbeak; perhaps even Butterfly Goodeids?

ive actually always fancied a dat but ive only ever seen them for sale very small and i dont think they are fast growers. the Datnioides microlepis would be the choice dat but finding a large specimin might take a while and cost a fair bitWhat about a Datanoid? Dont know much about them but I think there are some that get to the same size as Keith - could be an interesting contrast?
Uarus get to between 8-12 inches depending on strain, gender and how they were raised (there are about 4 or 5 species that are traded under one name with slight differences that become more apparent as adults ie colour, size and eyes) But I would only keep them as a group or trio not as a singular.

ive been looking for a Hoplarchus psittacus for quite a while ...quite an elusive fish!! ive found them at £35 but too far away for mejust found a true parrot in stock at wildwoods but its £75 and about 5 inches quite pricey......!
i thought that Toxotes microlepis were better suited to brackish water. i think i had 2 of these that came with the tank when i first got it. also as the tank has become a bit of a s/c americam tank i would like to try and keep it that way if poss
