has anyone ever kept a Aequidens diadema before?

i came accross a 6-7 inch specimin at lfs today but cant seem to find much about them. would it fit in my stocking?

I wanted one for my 150G but they seem quite mixed. Ive read in quite a few places they can be really aggressive when they want to. I think it was one of these Wills had at some point and had to rehome it because it got to aggressive. Although saying that all the fish you plan on can stick up for them self so im not sure they would be to much of a problem.

it was about 6-7 inches and in a tank with a syno catfish and a few smaller cichlids and looked very placid and relaxed.

never seen one before and at £20 seemed a bargain is it?

im allowed to get a little excited about this. ive never had to wait this long for a fish before its been horrible a great big tank set up and running with 2 fish in it is not doing it for me at the minute

i need fish in it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aequidens Diadema - I had one and he/she now lives with Star4 in her Texas tank. For me they were a full out killer and literally ate or killed all sorts so Star took them for me when I was in Coventry once. But for Star they seem to be fine now so I think it depends on their tank set up and also the order in which they are added to the tank. When she was here they killed everything added after which was a school of blue tetras, a school of red rainbows, a 5 inch geophagus surinimensis and a dwarf pike cichlid.....

By all means worth a try and a beautiful fish but be careful what goes in with them. Then again you are keeping an oscar so the tank mates are pretty robust at any rate

A diadema, I have one, utterly gorgous fish, should fit in ok with your stocking, had mine with the rokeils no worries, ok with black collared cat, so sun cats shouldnt be a problem, I also have had convicts and Elliotti but they can be aggressive towards smaller fish. Bailey (used to be owned by Wills) was a bit of a devil with smaller fish, but I have had no trouble since I have had him/her. I have been looking for another one for ages, cheapest I found was 4-5" £15 in Exeter . If you get it and it doesnt work out, baggies first dips

ill get the oscar settled in and then get the diadema, as long as they still have it that is. would adding it the same day be ok or would it be best to wait a few days? and star sure if it doesnt work out then you get first dibs

oh by the way i have added the L190 royal panaque to the big tank now

Personally I would add them together, so they work out territory between them, both being new commers, rather than the oscar claiming the whole tank first.

just checked on the tank and i can see lots of poo...... i take it the L190 has settled in then all 3 fish are sharing the same cave
