Large Aquarium Design. Help Tips Etc Req.

What would be the measurement of the river sections LxWxH. I love this idea :good:

Heres a simple version. This would span the entire back of the project area rather than the right semi-circle... I think its too plain but would be much much cheaper so maybe i need somthing inbetween...

What if you did that idea with the two ponds with the stream in the middle but still give it that L-shape, This would make the stream a little more dynamic with a turn it. You'd get some really interest water currents and with some larger stones in there I think that could come out looking really nice!

by the way I know rhino really well too! I have to use it all the time to build digital models of the products I design.

I was also wondering, I was reading about this other forum that you have, how do I subscribe to it? I was also wondering when exactly would you be going there to build, I think it would be a lot of fun to come help but with school I would have to make sure the two didnt conflict.

Thanks and im sure we will have a great time. There will be times when it will be hard like there are anywhere, but mainly its our paradise. Perfect for us two! :)

Hmm, i did a nice looking open top design with supported lid, all linked, a high pond, long river with corner then a low pond. Looked nice but less homely and more like a decent zoo exhibit.

Got another idea which will be fully fitted from the front, two rows of 10-12"H tanks one above the other with panels in between, and at the end of the two rows a large end tank linking both through vents/mesh with a waterfall as a fully planted paladarium.

Will put renders on within an hour! :)

Here it is. Im quite happy with this. neatening it up and adding details. Will add the water and substrate too i think...

So to explain again. Water runs from top left, drops down inside paladarium on right then runs right to left. Theres a sump hidden on the left on bottom row containing pre filter and pump, and one on top containing main filter media.

Its 12" high, 10" visible. maybe 8" wide for top row (where weight is an issue) and 15-18" on bottom. The hardest part is properly supporting the top row. Any ideas?

I really like this last idea, it will be nice because you can in a sense have twice as much space in the same footprint! I really like the fact that the water will not travel very far during filtration either, it will just go up a few feet and thats about it, great idea!

1st concept for a river paladarium. There would be a lot of stone shelves etc glued into this (which i will add to a more finalised design) these will create pools and waterfalls
Top of page two, floats my boat. Are you going to incorporate seasonal weather patterns such as a thunderstorm with acoustics and rainfall, Heavy duty misters could be employed (adapted from amphibian habitats) Some terrestial folage canopy with dripping water into the tanks (Awesome)
Just an idea
Regards
BigC

schooly20, glad you like and yea, get the whole river flow without having to return the water 10 ft or so. Also fits in with regular furniture, neat, all maintainence if accesible from the rear and guests just get to sit and watch from the front.

BigC, I did like that one, presuming you meant the one with the round pools, but the open ones are more expensive to have made so was trying to simplify and contain it all better into a piece of furniture. I may try a version which is somewhere between that round-pool version and the latest 2-tier-cabinet version. As for mist, weather etc, like i have said, its an eco-lodge and we will be totally solar powered so wattage needs to be kept to a minimum. Theres plenty of real thunder and lightning there anyway! lol

Another version. incorporating a few of the other designs...

This would be the same 2-tier river and paladarium design. Water flows from top left, round, waterfalls down inside the large paladarium, flows left. Then is pumped from bottom left into a filter-tank hidden on far left, probably above the top tier.

EDIT: 6 tanks along the top linked by mesh windows where the tanks seal together. 1 or 2 joined tanks on bottom for larger fish.

Would probably follow the educational side by having fish from higher altitude in top, and lower land river fish in bottom, pond fish in the paladarium with orchids, ferns etc and unsure what animal.
