L_Plates - Shrimp Tank

I've got 2 aps HOBs and apart from being a tad noisy at first they're actually really good. I got mine on 24*12*15 tanks, one on the biotope and one on the garage tank which has a low water level for emmersed anubias. Go for it.

Awesome, great layout there dude. :good:

Cheers

When you say a little noisy at first do they get better ?

I will be having this tank in the living room eventually when its been decorated. Ahhh decorating a mans worst nightmare :D

yes they get better :) the noise was AWFUL at first, but after 2 days it quieted right down. It's in our bedroom so noise level is pretty important! Even quieter if you take the lid off. I'm a really light sleeper and it's quiet enough that I can sleep through it. It certainly wouldn't be an issue in your living room :good:

Hob filter ordered from APS, http://www.allpondsolutions.co.uk/aquarium-1/aquarium-filters/hang-on-filters/aquarium-hang-on-filter-400l-h.html

Gonna look into ordering plants next week after a little bit or searching around as some of the moss (Fissidens Fontanus) is hard to get a hold of.

I suppose i can still plant up the other plants and later the moss, or i may just go hc i just cannot decide.

Ok so i have been thinking about plants. As i cannot decide between HC and Moss i thought i may give both a go.

Here is a ROUGH sketch of a possible plat layout.

All ideas and tips welcome as always.

Looks good LP.... how about some fissidens covering the rocks aswell?.

Just idea..... how about swapping the fissidens over with the HC and have a bigger HC carpet in the open space?. This way you dont have to source a much fissidens...HC is far easier to get hold of :good:.

I really think either way it will look very nice.... looking forward to seeing this planted now :).

Not sure i am undestanding you there Fishy. The Fissidens will only be a smallish patch as the darker green shows on the diagram. I know what you mean about it being hard to get hold of. I cannot find it on any sites like Aqua or TGM.

Not sure about adding moss to the rocks as i like the look of them, however i was looking at the tree in out garden that has ivy all around the bottom 1/4 of it and i thought hey i could do that using some of the moss :)

Apologies mate, i never looked at the picture correctly lol. Although now you've pointed it out... i wouldn't mix the moss and HC like that... can be a pain to maintain and can look quite messy because of how much the two plant's contrast against each other.

I would be more inclined to have that whole area HC and have the fissidens in the other areas that you have shown as HC :good: .... that would be just what i would do though :).

No problem Fishy :)

I think you might be right with moving the Fissidens over to the left and leave the main area hc.

Adjusted the image.

looking good LP, as for the red plants, I'd recommend Alternanthera Rosaefolia 'mini', it stay really small as well :good:

LP

It on the Aquafluer list, so Aqua essentials will get it for you :good:
