L_Plates - Shrimp Tank

14cm x 14cm.

I have noticed a little bit of what looks like like a fluffy white growth ? on just one piece of wood.

Here you go

Is this dangerous to shrimp ?

Should i remove the wood and scrub it or should i leave it and it will go ?

Cheers, LP

evening
when my wood was newish to the tank, i had similar stuff.Scrubbed it off, but it did come back.It went away by itself after a little while.Never kept shrimp, but it didn't hurt the fish. Some even tried eating it!

Cheers Steve, so should i just leave it and it will go on its own?

LP

You can scrub it off but it will re appear, then it will prob go black then slowly vanish but it all depends whether it's an easy job to clean it, if it will cause you problems then try and get it off with planting tweezers, if that's a pain then leave it mate.

Its at the back with plants all round it. Ill see how it goes for a few days and if it does not go see if i can get the wood out and scrub it.

Couple more snaps of the tank and shrimps.

The white fluff has grown a little overnight but i will leave it a little longer to see if it goes on its own accord.

Here is a snap of the fissidens, not much new growth yet but the shrimp like it and its looking healthy. Note the smaller shrimp on the left hand side, this one looks a better grade than the others.

Here is the A Mini since being trimmed.

Tank shot, hc seems to be doing ok still. Slowly but surely the plant is spreading :)

Just a random shot of one of the shrimp keeping an eye on the rest from the highest piece of wood in the tank.

All comments welcome as always, LP

Looking good. The plants are coming along nicely and some of the shrimp have a good colouration. Fingers crossed for breeding soon.

good to see the moss (Fiss) coming through, you're on a winner with this tank:good:

you do have a couple of higher grade shrimp as well.

Cheers Guys, the white fluff is growing still but its darkening up a little. Hopefully it will start to die off soon as i dont want to have to remove the wood to scrub it.

LP

the white stuff is very common on Manzy wood. It will go, and the shrimp will love it.

They have all avoid it so far until about 30 minutes ago when one of he larger shrimp had a little go at it :)

Nice mate, once the CRS start breeding we'll have to swap a few each so we get more strains and less chance of interbreeding and colour loss aye? :good:
