Keiths New Tank Journal

well that plan didnt work out as it should either

for those that didnt know which is everyone except chris..... i added a decent sized arowana in with Keith yesterday and guess what Keith didnt mind his company for a change :hyper:

the bad news is though while the muppet in the shop was netting it the arowana decided to launch itself out of the tank and onto the floor. his netting skills were very strange tbh. the fish never recovered and died last night after a few hours in the tank  been back today and got my money back which was the agreement at the time after the incident.....

back to square one im affraid.

Wharf have an Arowana in... It is very nicely sized too.

Mate you will kick yourself once Keith has gone. Like you said in the earlier post, he is part of the family. If you do manage to source a FH then you will probably not be able to have ANYTHING in the tank with it... At least with Keith you can stock bottom dwellers pretty easily and most smaller Cichlids.

i have reserved a juvi ray that im collecting tomorrow. fingers crossed Keith will leave it alone and live in peace with it other wise i have a very hard choice to make.............

Keith has never had any aggression towards any bottom level fish so im crossing my fingers very tightly on this one. hes been in with humbug cats from 3-7 inches, rtcXtsn between 5-12 inches, bgk from 4-10 inches, common plec at 12 inches, royal panaque at 6 inches. so he has had a variety of bottom feeders in with him over the time ive kept him and shown no interest in them.

i know the ray will mainly be on the substrate but it will venture up and down when settled and this is when i feel things might turn.... although the plecs have been all over the glass and never been bothered by him and my biggest humbugs ive had use to take Keiths food from the surface without trouble so it may just work......

i really hope so anyway

just a few pics of the ray still in the bag. ill get some more when possible and the fish has settled in a bit.

fingers crossed for you today! really hope this works out and that you dont have to part with keith. like minnt says he would take some replacing.

well the ray is now in the tank and so far so good :hyper: although time will tell i guess. the ray is only a pup still and only a few months old so probably not big enough to be seen as a threat.....
here are a few better pics of her.

so far so good all the tankmates have been and looked at the ray but nothing has got too close. its almost like they know what will happen if they argue with her....

and the best news is that Keith doesnt seem bothered either :hyper:

the ray seems to have settled in quite well so far and has been exploring the tank all over. i just hope it takes to food as this can be the important time of its introduction to its new home.

such a beautifull fish

Blimey, no wonder he is ok with it... It's tiny! How much did that puppy (no pun intended!) set you back?

And what has she been named?
