I bought this fella's mother for fifteen cents because I felt sorry for her. She was the last big momma on site, as pregnant as a horse and bound to be nothing more than food. I had room, I had loose change .. I had a new guppy! She's brown, ugly and quite large for a wild-type. I haven't ever seen a female as large as her-she dwarfs my largest fancy female by a couple centimeters. Well, she dropped her first batch of fry and I did my best to raise them and give them a fair chance at life. I fed the failing fry to my other fish and raised the rest to adulthood, but then I came up with the problem of finding room for nine common guppies. I didn't want them in my show tank because they were outclassed by the fancies and I didn't want them in with my breeders, so I found a home that was willing to take a look at them and then decide which they wanted. I took a few pictures to show this new potential owner and then I started having second thoughts. Below is a picture of my favorite male from the bunch. He just shines in the tank and he has such vivid and clear markings next to his siblings. Do you guys think I should get rid of him, or keep him?

Kizno, endlers are often brighter colors than guppies but that guppy is very nice too. You will really have to judge where to keep him because you do not want him in with the fancy guppies but he is a very nice looking guppy. Has he grown to full grown yet or is he still developing? A guppy can have a good splash of color like that at maybe 4 months old and look even better at 6 or 8 months, as you probably know from breeding fancy guppies. Who can say what he will look like when he is fully mature.

I have fancy guppies in my tropical tank and one guy that looks like yours there.. He was a feeder guppy but I stole him out of my hubby's tank and now he is a happy little guy swimming about with the rest of my fish. I also stole a very plain female feeder guppy because she has survived feeding times for months. Hubby could never catch her.. I felt she deserved a chance to live a long healthy life after escaping his net time and again.. :)

I say keep him.. he is a beauty!

Kizno, I don't think he's an endler. He's about three months old. He was a late May or early June batch. I just love him so much, he has such defined markings on both sides and I am growing fonder and fonder of the red/white/black divided dot on him. ^^ I decided that I would do a no-no that I promised myself I wouldn't do and I let him in a single tank with his mother after she dropped her last batch. He will be going to a new home and I am just curious as to what he may throw when he's crossed back. >___> I suppose that will satisfy my curiosity and then I haven't really 'lost' him entirely in the end. The new home he's going to will give him and his brothers free run of the tank and I know he'll be taken good care of. Plus he's only three blocks away! XD Thanks for the input guys.
