Well as some know i have 3 juwel tanks and very pleased with them, however they all came with internals and only last week i replaced my rio 350L internal with 2 Tetratec 1200 externals. Now the crud that collects at the bottom of these is reasons enough to remove them i was truly shocked. Now i also have a juwel 70L that runs the internal 280GPH so thought ah ha i have the 350L internals 1000GPH that will rock the 70L. Well it was striped and cleaned and its been in for an hour, OMG the diff is sooo crap!
We all know the rating on the pumps are slowed by media but really from 280gph to 1000gph that plants are moving the same, was just thinking the poor people runing these internals thinkning there doing a good job!

My juwel internal hasn't been too bad, but now I'm getting a bit heavily stocked *ahem* I'm planning on adding an external when I find a bargain.

I think they're fine with really minimal stocking, but that's it.

They're fine for standard community set ups, it's when you head into the planted or larger fish realms that you'll want something with a bit more oomph, the media capacity is fantastic for an internal filter, the output could do with some improvement though, but in that case just upgrade the pump.

No problems with mine,

I added a 1000l/ph powerhead in my old 190l trigon and my stats were always fine.

So long as your water is clean and looked after theres no reason to change it :)

i thought mine was the bees knees, until i removed it and got an eheim.

i think its a case of, you dont know how bad something is until you upgrade!haha

I found a noticeable difference between the 600lph and the 1000lph

I think there good filters but I have always used an extra external filter due to the turnover not being very good, I even upgraded the powerhead in my RIO300 and it didnt make much diferance.

If I had the cash and time to swap mine out, I probably would, but they are not that bad. My fish and plants are fine. Although I do have an extra powerhead

Think they ony do 1 powerhead bigger then then 1000, to be fair the gunk that collects on the bottem is reason enough it stank and you can only get to it by removing the box. True SBS the rio 350 holds some huge huge sponges that was their good point but i defo wouldt want it to be the sole filter in a bigger 200L+ tank after this month

How come you can only get to it by removing the box?

must be some sort of dead spot at the very bottom and just collects, however thinking about it the juwel box has a cradle so if you remove everything in the interal you could hose it up on water change :good: mind you how many people that?

The filter is split into two sections and both go right to the bottom its easy to completely clean if you really wanted to.

LOL I was setting you up to say that !! haha
