Ive had 2 facepalm moments at my usual LFS. One time after i bought my paddletail newt i asked the lady what kind of coldwater/subtropic fish they had (wanted to liven up the tank) and she proceeded to tell me she wasnt going to sell me coldwater fish because my paddletail newt was not even a coldwater animal. Another time i purchased 4 fw clams and the lady selling them to me insisted they fed on nitrates. A quick search on google when i got home proved that wrong pretty quickly, and my starving clams died one by one.... Lesson learned: research before you buy.

red bellies are fine with angel fish, overheard in a "garden centre". I nearly fell over...............
