it's come out a lot reder than he is the photo, he is more orange, similar to my clowns orange. His shape, and dorsel fins are acurate to that of a shepherds.

he was £68 but i got him cheaper for helping out the bloke in my LFS the other day. I basically watched the shop for an hour so he gave me a load of stuff!

I believe its a Lace Coral, but may be wrong. If you google image it they look the identically the same.

Lace Coral is a hydro coral, which is a cross between a soft and a LPS

Am still not 100% sure. If it is a true Shepard then for that price you are one lucky guy. Since 2009 there has been very limtied supply of Shepards in the industry. They are deeper water fish seen below 60ft. They are found in the Marianas Islands and Southern Japan and exported out of Guam. Export out of Guam stoped around 2003-2004. It is possible it could be a hybrid. Either way it is still a good looking fish. How is this fish acting? They are known to suffer from decompression related issues and die within a few days to a week.

It's been at my LFS for a month now, and he's acting fine in my tank. I just video'd him, i will post shortly. I have read that about them, in fact me and the owner of my LFS, sat and read in his books about the Shepards and the differences to other angels. Shepards is the best accurate match, there wasnt anything about it that would suggest it was not from the books, and reasearch papers on MRD that we read.

I have a massive lump of fire coral in my tank. At least that's what I'm told it is, will wait for the next party and get some idiot to stick his hand in and find out. The guy who sold me the LR fragged it all but there are loads of branches coming up from the piece that was left attached to the rock, Does grow slow though, didn't know it was so pricey.

Looking at that video I would also have to agree that it looks like a flame. That price is very good for a flame, I dont think you would pick up a Centropyge shepardi for that much. He looks good though.
