i think yours are both tiger oscar spishkey, but there are tigers,red,lutino,albino-and then the wild caught oscars.. Day-Day is a lutino, albinos are white/orange with red eyes ,this one has darker eyes, there is a pair of albino in the lfs for £150.
nelly can tell you more about the diffrent varietys tho, hes good with all that stuff.
Day-Day is from the series of friday movies... a massive laugh

Well Im pleased to say that Merlin is eating this afternoon again, but on his terms

If I put a pellet in when he's not ready, he just looks at it and turns his nose up at it but when he's ready he goes up to the top, does a wiggle then when I pop a pellet in, he snaps it up  He also discovered the delights of prawn this afternoon, didnt think he was going to get any before the others gobbled it all up - but once he got one mouthful he was rushing around grabbing as much as he could :D

he loves you thats all and have to feed him
glad hes feeling better... maybe a touch of indigetsion(sp) hey nelly??

thats oscars the so lazy,,,i always tease mine with there tub for a couple of minutes then BOOM they go crazy and eat,, with my tinfoil barbs<gannets>
i feed the oscars in one corner and the others at the other end of tank, they wll cram there mouth full to the brim,,much like hampsters :good:

oscar types well theres

wild type<either straight from the wild or bred from a pair from the wild,,,,caught forms of the species are typically darkly coloured with orange ringed-spots
tiger oscars<same as mine........
red oscars<same as dave Ehl...... marbled patches of red pigmentation
albino<whites>xanthistic<of yellow colour><leucistic
Long finned oscar >In recent years long-finned varieties have also been developed. The species is also occasionally artificially coloured by a process known as painting....

seen colours such as intence orange and yellow but not sure about these types, if anyone can inlighten us, go ahead please

looks like i may have run into a spot of bother with Day-Day,his tank is at the bottom of the stairs, and he is really skittish, this was a total mis- judgment on my part, the silver dollar dosent help matters either, ive stripped the tank back of all the plants ( not such a good idea now im thinking) and just left the wood and stones in there,i left the lights on all night thinking that maybe he wouldnt see me when i came down this morning, but he did, wasnt too bad as i remembered he was there so went slow, but any suggestions on keeping the frights to a min would be good, tonnes of plastic plants?? curtains??, i didnt really want to fill the tank with junk, but then, im thinking he needs something in there, poor bugger, i can see he will be seeking advice from Jambo anytime soon-on revenge, maybe it is normal for an oscar to be nervous, but i didnt think so,i cant see him getting used to it,so something needs to be done today, maybe if i chuck a throwover on the tank, and take it off slowley in the mornings?? oh i dunno, c`mon your turn..
shelagh xxx

Put a backing all the way around the tank Shel?? So its just the front of the tank that he can see out of maybe?

thing is surely if you put up a backing/curtains/whatever, he's never gonna get used to people walking past chick?

i have the same problem with my turtle, he's right by a doorway and everytime someone walked past he'd literally crap his pants and throw himself to the bottom of the tank. after two weeks though he's fine and used to it now.

also does anyone know or has anyone tried putting sharks in with oscars?

i kinda have a fish rescue place going on here, word seems to have spread and now im getting fish weekly off people who dont want them!
just been asked if i could take a 15cm blue shark (pangasius catfish) and dont really wanna set up my new tank yet (found a huge tank in the bushes, bloody gorgeous it is!) i thought as i already have 4 catfish would another make much difference in there? now things have settled between the territories though im worried it may cause mayhem, unless i have another tank rearrange as i put the newbie in?

go to pick up an australian red clawed crayfish today, he's a biggun too, nearly 20cm long without his claws! dont dare put him in with the oscars though, if he pinched them i'd cook the git!

Spish, a pang cat gets enormous, I really wouldnt take it - as eventually you wont have the room.

Anything is worth a try Shelagh, its the best i can think of for now, perhaps also keep the lights off for a few days :)

he's a cute pang cat though! i read the longest they get is 40cm? surely he could go in a 6 foot tank. or have i been misadvised?
