That's a lot of plants

I think the Hemianthus micranthemoides would look brilliant as a foreground plant in a tank that size.

Goodluck, looks like you've really thought about your plant choice.

Excellent job with the trimming of the hood I agree much better. Can't wait to see the progression. Very nice tank.

Hi Portwash i feel i must come clean on trimming of the hood, actually it was my wifes brother inlaw who did the trimming he is a carpenter by trade and he is very good at his job, thanks for the kind remarks you guys :good:

Hi mike do you think my plant choice is ok or do you think i need more fast growers? regards john

Hi all i have just calculated the correct volumes for my tank with the pfk calculator on their website now i can work out my ferts properly.

Tank volume= 472l/104 gals (us124.69)

probable volume=425l/94 gals (112 us gals)

regards john

Great tank John i actually saw it when i went to pick mine up a few days before you got yours.

In terms of the plants are you planning on using all those plant long term or will you remove some after you got over any initial algae problems? as although its a large tank there are imo still a lot of plants, and you scape could look a bit dutch, with some nice wood (don't know if that’s the look your going for). Plus its gonna need a lot of scissor action. You could use some more rosette type plants swords, vallis, larger crypts... I think this would be of benefit to the scape and you scissor hands.

Look forward to its progression,

Regards

Hi afroturf, i have got to go up to wharf aquatics tomorrow (sat) because they brought the wrong lights (too short) so i said i will drive up and pick them up myself instead of them posting them ( i dont trust them posties ) i like the shop anyway, i am having such a hard time trying to decide what plants to choose but my main thing is to try and beat any algae probs.I will swap and change things as the plants mature to get the look i want, something along the lines of a concave effect.(says he )
what tank did you get btw regards john

It is a great shop, this is my second tank i've got from them is 38"x15"x23" you can see it here, its been set up for over a week now but i still keep adjusting the layout.

i wouldn't trust the post especially with lights the onesi ordered for my tank (not from wharf) cost £7 for special p+p and they still arrived broken, they sent replacements though which were ok.
