Jimbooo's Jungle Journal 2 (rio 180 - 40g)

^^^Riccia does not have roots so after a while you have to tie it down again, hehe thats why a lot of us get rid of it eventually, that plant makes you do a lot of work!

Nice James very nice......man that was a lot of work in one session especially planting all the glosso in one go, phew, looks great though, the glosso will really finish it off nicely, look foreward to seeing it progress.

Talking about work and glosso i have a tank full of overgrown glosso that i need to replant, thanks for reminding me...........i need motivation i need motivation.........ok i might do it tomorrow, eh, or the next day....

yeah tell me about it and at the same time i was slowly acclimatising gf's fish to my super hard water. it took absolutly ages. got a hell of a backache as well with all that leaning over to plant the glosso

That tank is stunning, like all your tanks! I'm jealous. :p

Keep it up, lovely fish too!

The fern looks wonderful in your tank Jimbooo! I'm so glad it went to you. Yes, I agree the tank's a bit overstocked now, but it looks very beautiful. I can't wait to see it fill out a bit more, but it has the potential to be a great layout, again. Your first layout for that tank was gorgeous and one of my favorites.

yeah then it all went a bit wrong didn't it. ha ha. must stop fiddling with this one and just let it grow.

hopefully i'm going to get hold of some sand tonight and redo the rek60 and move some fish to alleviate the problem.

hi jimbooo
your tank is unbelieveable, it really makes me want to sort mine out.
good job you have got a real talent

thanks for the kind words everyone. early days still for the new layout but so far so good. the fern is pearling, glosso has doubled already and is pearling (from the cut runners, not from the leaves yet).

still got 27 cardinals so the angel is playing the game and not a sniff of any algae on the fern, still some odd bits leftover on my original plants from my co2 problems but nothing major to worry about.

and thats with one nutrafin on there. i cant wait to get the new dennerle pressurised kit.

Have you ordered it yet?

I forgot to tell you that you may need to run it in when you first install it. I had a little bother with mine but I figured it out.

1. Connect everything up as per instructions.
2. Turn on cylinder.
3. Set working pressure to 1 bar.
4. Adjust needle valve so you're getting 1+BPS. I reckon around 100 bubbles per minute for you.
5. This is the "weird" part. Your working pressure may drop gradually.
6. Keep turning up working pressure to 1 bar and eventually it will stabilise - should take less than 24 hrs. The higher the bubble rate the quicker it stabilises.

I'm not sure why this happens, it may be the reg filling up with CO2. I have to do this every time I fit a new bottle but it's no bother really. I normally just fit it in the evening and adjust the working pressure back to 1 bar the following morning.

You may not experience this, but it's just a heads-up for you anyway.

thanks for that george. i haven't ordered it yet. the jbl was bought for me as a xmas present from my mums partner. i need to get him back to the LFS for a refund on that before i can order the dennerle.

hopefully it'll be ordered by next monday.
