It's pouring!!

It's so exciting when you have babies from a fish that you bred, isn't it? I also recently just had a spawn from my own kids (a pair from my very first Turqoise spawn). I ended up with only 16 fry, but it was still exciting. They're starting to color up now, they're just over 3 weeks old. I adore the father, my favorite baby from that spawn, so I'm excited he's got some kids of his own now, hehe.

lol Lizard

And they do

Ya know, I was just in the betta room sneakely watching my male pick about a dozen babies off the bottom and put them back, he is lovin' it! And I mean looving it  The look on his face is like "This is the most important thing I've ever done" and he's just so into it, constantly patrolling and moving and catching  They always make such an impression on me

I love, love, loove this picture! You can see the fry right at the tip of the fathers mouth  The size difference is amazing!

He's doing so well, there are so many fry..I don't know if I'll ever be able to get him out without netting any  I took the cover off his tank and I've been in his way all day thinking he might munch a few.. and he doesn't mind a bit

:hyper: :hyper: :hyper: That picture is so awesome!!! He looks great and it's good to see he is being such a good Daddy

Thanks! It was a quicky shot and really pure luck

I'm going to take him out in a few. He must be tired.

Great job wuv, and great job to the betta. I always think it's great to see other living creatures mature and perform tasks through basic instinct.

Well...I reluctantly left the male in until this morning. I woke up and ran in there first thing this morning, after a night of tossing and turning and remembering what a 'great job' my orange plakat did and then how I woke up and found 50% of the fry gone.

Same thing...a lot of fry are gone, or hiding. I estimate about 100, it still looks like my biggest spawn ever. Dad was less than cooperative when it came time to net. I went from "oh,you're such a good boy" to "Get in the damn net, fish!"

Rofl!

Well if they're free swimming, count on the fact that there are more than you actually see. They are very good at hiding in the plants and stuff. My tiny spawn last month I kep thinking there were only 5 or 6, when I moved them to another tank there was actually 16! However 100 would still be awesome!

Fabulous pic!!! Same thing with mine I think I waited just a little long to take out Dad so I have a few less fry.

Thanks  It's a keeper :hyper:

Last night I counted those who weren't hiding in the plants. I came up with 100+

Today they had their first meal of bbs. Everybody has fat, pink bellies. I was beginning to worry because they don't seem too hot for microworms and because I don't have a good infusoria growth in the tank -_- They just mouth the worms and spit them back out. Hopefully that will change because mw's are essential for them to snack on in between bbs meals.

2 weeks old

Anybody care to count them
