Good luck Kelly. I just spoke with my sister and they got 3 inches in the last day (not bad compared to some areas). Do you know how much rain you got at your place?

And keep up the journal, I love reading this stuff, especially since I have no spawns of my own going atm

Thanks you guys!! I was just about to release the female then my daughter yelled for me so...I'll get to that in a few. She seems a lot more interested today.

No flooding for me,Linda. But sheesh, some places got it wicked.

Eggs are in the nest

I released the female this evening @ about 6 before I went to the fish store (grr for those who read that story!) I fed them some brine shrimp right after I released her because I knew they would both be hungry.

Completely forgot so I missed the spawning but I found the female hiding at 9 pm and the male gaurding a nest full of eggs. The female looks great, not a scratch on her. I put her right into the female tank with the others.

Sorry to ask a question in your thread, but rain is good for bettas because it promotes better spawning???

Also, I am guessing your going to get a red/orange mix, and that would be very nice to see.

Sorrell~ As far as I know this is his first time. He's a Straits Aquarium betta, I dunno if they breed their show stock prior to show.

GP~if all goes as planned,there shouldn't be any orange at all, just a more vibrant red. And yes,IME rain is the best time to spawn. I dunno why,but the fish just know Every spawn I've ever had has been during/after a storm.

No, that's too scary for me. I do open the windows though Thanks! even if they turn out a funky orange color,I'll still em! (if they turn out at all!)
