That is wicked...
To be honest I'm not into big fish as i think they can get boring if you have all big, personally i would get a really nice community shoal of fish and have all different types of fish and get the odd few big peaceful ones.
First thing in mind would be:
clown loach - but thats after i have fish in there as they prefer being in a tank with fish before them.
Black ghost knife fish
Other catfish - hoplo ect.
Gobies - fish that dig under sand and make their homes, nice to see them blow out gravel from their mouths.
Electric Yellow lab - I have seen them peaceful many times in a community and beautiful yellow fish.
Puffers - MBU, Nile & other puffers you could keep.
L plecs - get different types.
I like to see all different types of fish and see whats going on in different sections of the tank, but thats how i would want it if i owned a big tank. Its upto you and you have lots of choices now meaning keeping fish together that wouldn't go well in a smaller tank.
Really nice of your parents to let you own such a huge tank and just to let you get on with it. I own a 4ft tank with african cichlids cory's, puffer and african congo tinanti cichlid (bottom dweller.
Still looking for a 48" hood, so if anyone has one for sale?
and...that has been slightly forced to get one, i won't get bigger than 4ft for now as it fits the stuck on cabinet in the room and loooks nice and not too big.
Have you got any marine setups or are all they all tropical? As my relative in Bristol has a 7ft marine tank in the wall inbetween his living room and kitchen, comes to about 5ft high. I thought that was really nice, but now he has a new big project and has about 3/4s of it done. He has built an extension that attaches to his kitchen for his new 8ft x 8ft x 5ft high marine fish tank which is crazy. He has already built the extension and got the tank in with all pipe works done and cycled his water. The wall where he has attached his extention to the kitchen there is a big window where you will be able to see all the fish as the glass of the tank starts right near the window. I think he is going to fill the whole bottom with coral, i will try and get a picture of this or even a video when i next time go and see him.
bae1994 you should make it into a marine one day that would be awesome and entertaining.
However, even just the water costs a lot to buy.
Best wishes to you and congrats on your new developing tank
and let us all know how it is going.
