Is My Heater Broken

Hi, ive got a juwel 125, that i set-up yesterday, and filled with water etc.
Its just, my heater doesnt seem to be working (its seccond hand by the way)....
So ive filled a bucket with water and ive put the heater in over the min water level, and im now waiting to see weather that will heat it up, cos then i can see the change much more easily...

Any ideas? Thanks, Mikey

coudl well be broke, they're quite fragile things so if it's 2nd hand it had to get transported somehow, if it got knocked a bit in transit it could well be broken. only way to tell really is test it, like you are doing, in a bucket so no harm to the fish and see if it overheats or just doesn't work at all.

Ok thanks for the advice, ill keep it in there for a few hours and see how it goes, i havent got any fish in there yet, but it just means i cant start my cycle for a few days...
Ive seen some on ebay that are quite cheap, and i can get any size i want for the same price, do you think i should get a bigger one?
Maybe a 200w or something, or would that oveheat?
