Every time I see incorrect spelling, I always get the urge to correct it...

Typos aside, some spelling can be truly appalling (i even had to look the spelling of that one up, luckily was correct) these days.

Even mine is getting worse and it drives me insane when I can not remember how to spell a word!

text speak is just making it worse every day... sigh.

this is a dangerouse road you are taking us.

remember a few things...
not all members here use English as a first language
some members are dyslexic
not everyone had the advantages of an "good" education system
this is a fish forum not an English language forum.
and finally there is no such thing as grammer police

My spelling on forums sucks - I get the right letters but in the wrong order cos I'm trying to type so quickly while my boss isn't looking!

Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to insult anyone on here.

I consider my desire to always want to correct spelling a bit of a compulsive disorder which I could happily go without :(

Just wondering if anybody else got that way too.

I see your point though, many could take it as a direct insult.

Trust me, if I was going to insult anyone, it would have been the people on the X factor boards.

......and some of us hav about 3 other forums to post on so cnt be hangin around lol.

i do see your point tho but im afraid txt speak is only gonna get worse as the younger generations come through.

i must admit I'm starting to get lazy with my spelling! Whats worse is that I'm training to be a secretary So my spelling should be upto scratch!

Hey who cares about the spelling anyway as long as people understand what it means!

It's taken me ages to work out what all your abreviated fish names are for example CAE if I hadnt been in the middle of discussing them with someone in a topic earlier I wouldnt have a clue as to what they meant! It was the same when I was in the betta section with all the DT, CT, etc it took ages to click that they were on about the different forms!

I quite like the way different people talk on here it makes it a bit of a challenge trying to interpret what others say!

I know what you mean.... it took me ages to work out what an RTBS was!

RTB is that a red tailed black shark per chance? or maybe could be interpreted as a red tiger barb lol (don't think it exists but hey its another variation of what it could mean :p )

I think we need a post about the different codes/abreviations lol

I wasn't taking it wrong, but you could see how others may.

there is a red tiger barb an a blue one too both are dyed fish :grr:

thee is also a topic about abreviations used on this board, use the search button and it should be
found.

Hmmm I didnt expect there to be a red tiger barb!

Argh cant believe they're dyed also........... Anyway not getting into the dyed subject again already been down that route totally hate it!

Maybe I should check out the abreviations bit then again its more fun trying to work them out

Don't forget this too...Today, almost every program has a spell checker so when people spell something wrong, they don't even care, they just have the program fix it. Sometimes the program even fixes the misspelled word for them and they don't even realize a mistake was made. I remember when I was younger if I wanted to see how a word was spelled I had to look it up in the dictionary! I try to spell every word correctly but nobody's perfect.

Ah but spell check also has a few wrong spellings depends on which country as spell check on word uses the American dictionary so it spells things different to how we british spell them!

It's a pain in the bum when it does auto correct

my splleign si fine I nvre Have any porbelms.
