another thing... can i use salt... case this guy on *this one forum* recommended i put salt in her water and change her water100% every other day!

will it work?!?! i want a second opinion!

I've heard fishkeepers doing epsom salt baths with dropsy.

doc wellfish salt might work, but i'm not sure. if it removes stress, it should do something.

2. a more severe disease which is an infection of the kidneys (dropsy) - with the scales sticking out and some coming off the body it does sound like your betta may have this.
Treatment :
for 1. Stop feeding for a day, then feed vegetable flakes use the inside of a cooked pea (acts like a laxative). You could do an Epsom salt bath using 1 Tbsp salt per gal but only put him in there for a maximum of 10 minutes - no longer.
for 2. because it is a bacterial infection, your betta will need antibiotics if this is the condition he has - usually done via medicated food (but not all bettas will eat when they are sick) or sometimes vets will try to inject them with it...this condition is almost always fatal regardless of treatment because it is often picked up too late.

I no my platy died of it the other day she was about 14 months old, keeping fingers crossed for you.

I wouldn't use regualar doc welfishs' salt.
There's been some debate over this, but I've read things that say it will hold their fluids in and make their problem worse.

Epsom salt draws fluids out
but
I'd just go with the meds
don't mess with anything else right now.

ok in 30Min my dad will be home and he is taking em to petsmart... and im getting a new betta :p just in case (he will go in a breeder net for now and when vee-vee dies... i will clean the tank with bleach and water and then water some more and then divide it up and put them in there

the only reason why im scared to lose her... is my BF got her for me :( and he knows nothing of her sickness and it will break his heart to hear what has happened :-(

So sorry. She is in the final stages of dropsy. I personally would put her in a seperate container, make her comfortable, and try to treat her. Not much else to do, I'm afraid. *hugs*

she is in the 2.5 all by herself i put a airstone in there ... it swirled her around so i took it out... im gonna do a water change when i get back from PM and then medicate her ... i hope this works cause i dont want to get yelled at :-(

Sad to say she looks bad, bless her.

she is a tough lil gurl right now! she is swimming around a bit and her gills are moving (they werent yesterday i was about to flush her  )

she ate a flake of food ... ;) thats a plus

i really hope she pulls through... i never got to breed her and get my delta babies :(
