Irrational Fears

I keep thinking up of what I am scared of... but im not sure if i can truely call them irrational. They are unfounded fears where I know nothing is really going to hurt me... but due to bad experience, its left me with severe anxiety and fears?

I wont go into the ones about people, people scare me silly!

But the woods at night! I have every right to be scared of the woods, not sure why at night though  but its the ghostly silver trees and darkness in between *shudder*

For that matter, maybe its just dark that scares me.. its not the dark so much as whats in it! Again, have reasons to fear being outside at night but... that just isnt it either...

The one that makes people laugh is my terror at dark windows!! I cant walk past a window at night, I crawl past them or close curtains early!

I know this quote though, of the tv series called Taken, the Steven Spielburg one that is absolutely beautiful..

Do you know the feeling of daring yourself to walk across a dark room? That way you're excited, because you know, you really do know that there's nothing there to hurt you. Some people get to chose their dark rooms. They get to look for places where the fear is only skin deep, but some people are nowhere near that lucky.

That aside, I also get really scared in Supermarkets when I go out shopping with my mum and I cant find her or lose sight of her! See it would be irrational if, as a child, my parents hadnt found it hilarious to hide around corners just to make me panic. Now, even though i'm 24, if I lose my mum in the Supermarket, I start panicking right up to full on panic attack and hyperventilating. Yeah cause that isnt humiliating to explain

And also your typical fear of spiders (Raptorrex, your post made me smile! Just imagining a spider dropping on you and you letting out a really high pitched squeal!). The more tarantula like the spider is, the better it is as they just dont move as fast!

I grew up reading Charlottes Web abd watching Spider In The Bath, I could honestly say I could never bring myself to kill one! I dont really object to their existence in the house so long as they arent near me, running accross the carpet near my feet or in my bedroom on the ceiling. I have held a tarantula and it was an utter anticlimax, because of the way they walk, they only have 4-6 feet down at a time and it was furry... it wasnt very heavy either, it just strolled accross my hands and felt like a hamster!! It was actually kinda cute! I might one day even own a tarantula... but dear god... the huge house spiders and orb spiders that make webs in the stupidest places outside and rbuild them in the same place despite its web being destroyed every day... those i do not like so much! Again... probably stems from as a kid and my dad chasing me with bits of fluff pretending he had caught a spider and chucking it at me until i fainted in fear.

I had such cruel parents!!

I have an Irrational Fear every time a new member registers.

What do you mean lol?

Oh, sorry yeah I forget you don't venture out of the planted section very often ;) Its a fear of having to read another thread asking why fish are dying or if a bala shark in a 10 gal is ok! ;) *shudder* However, we do get the odd Gem where people register to show off their 10 foot mega tanks stuffed full of nice fish, i look forward to those :)

I also have an irrational fear of walking down stairs...I have to look down at my feet as I walk down stairs.
It's because I've had three concussions, all due to falling down stairs :look:

Scared of spiders, roaches, scorpions, and all of the other creepy crawlies you can name. Not so much of moths...
Kinda scared of people at school sometimes too. Not SCARED of them, but like... sometimes some of them can get a little hyper and wonky. It's like they're bouncing off the walls. LITERALLY.

I don't believe that was the tone of the post in question, or at least I didn't read it that way. Places like the emergency section require a lot of work because of the sheer number of people needing help. That doesn't mean those new people shouldn't get help, but it is a lot of work nevertheless. Sometimes seeing the same problem a lot can also a bit depressing and it has nothing to do with the people asking for help. I always get a bit of a sinking feeling every time I see a post on a forum (any forum) from someone asking how to help their beloved sick starfish, since I usually know just from the thread title that the animal is already near death and there's nothing that can be done (and that someone has to break the bad news). I think Tizer was just trying to put a light-hearted slant on the issue.

I have to agree, it does get depressing sometimes and annoying when you see identical issues on top of one another but that's why there's an emergency section and older members know what to expect when looking in there. If they really didn't want to know they would just stay out of there :)
