Actually I also have an ancient samsung flip phone that I keep in the car only for emergencies. I rarely talk on cellphones...I am home more than out and about so I use Magicjack phone service for VOIP in the house. It's about $36 per year and is well worth it...you can also get your home phone messages and use the magicjack service whenever you are on wifi so your home phone will ring on your cellphone when you are out and about.

I used my Lenovo laptop if I am at home.
If I am outside, I will use my Oppo handphone.

Oppo handphone is good and cheap and they give 2 years warranty.

Samsung tends to have more safety issues..
