Now, I was ordered by your “Planted Section” hostess to turn this mediocre excuse for a tank into a planted project…. Dunno if that is possible with the limited stocks I have available and with the size of this tank….. Currently have some anubia…Vallis, Java fern, a sheet of moss and some red leafed bulb thing in there….. Let’s see what happens??

With that ugly looking filter downpipe in there, I doubt that it will ever amount to anything……

All you need is more of what you already have. The anubias will become your focal point, as they are fabulous. Simply add more vallis to cover up your hardware and you are set. This is a good start.

Try a black background Lud, being cheap my favorite are black plastic lawn & leaf bags. The black intake will blend in somewhat, between that & the vallis it should look nice!

The side my hardware is on is the side i put the majority of wood/rocks/plants to cover it.

The wood you have there, if it was on the other side positoned differently it would cover a fair bit of the filter intake. Just a thought..

Still do not see any improvement….. Next suggestion??..... (I still have one Anubia sheet to add to the foreground)

Trying to hide the hardware by adding an Amazon Sword…..

Take the air venturi pipe off the filter

do you want my opinion, Lud...take the sword out. Get something like Cabomba across the back, or water sprite, stick with the black background. Some Bacopa, small green crypts coming towards the front and some lilaeopsis at the front (off center).

These tanks are hard to scape Lud.

OK.... I have now removed the downpipe of the filter, (worried that the fish would be sucked in when I put them in) and removed one of the Amazon Sword on the left (There were 2 of them).....

In the foreground, I have placed some more Anubias and placed a sheet of moss in front of the wood......

But still, I do not get the "Vibes".....

BTW... Ianho..... Thanks for suggesting all those additional plants, but I have no access to anything other than what I have a available atm.....

Not the downpipe and strainer basket Ludwig, thats fine.
I see at the top you have an airline venturi attachment, remove that not the strainer pipe.

Oh!... You mean the little plastic tubing thingamagic....... OK.... I'll put the downpipe back and remove this thing....

Midground plants.. thats whats missing, possibly why your still not feeling the vibe. Your plants go from tiny anubias to giant swords. Once your vallis and java fern grows in it will look better, but i wonder if adding more java fern behind where youve put the new anubis would be a good idea? You could just sit it on the substrate. Ive got mine sat on the sand wish a pebble weighing it down so my corys and the flow dont shift it

Ian, Lud may not be able to get some of these plants. SA has a pretty strict blacklist.

Looking better already, Lud. Will be moving this to the journal section now. :)
