I'm Sceptical.... This Won't Work?

so far it looks pretty good imo i think once it starts growing it will look very good

Personally I would ignore all suggestions of hiding equipment. You want things like filters to be in the best positions to get the best out of them in a planted setup.

For my setups that means the inlet and outlet in the area with the least obstacles. Helps that they are glass in my setup however if I break them I won't be buying new ones and the old plastic OEM parts will go in the exact same place, in open water :)

It doesn't look bad at all, but I think your red lotus (do I see it correctly?) deserves a more prominent place. If you move the sword a bit more to the left, and your lotus more to the right, and then let just everything grow. Patience is very important in this part of the hobby!

I agree. Ive just cut a hole in the hood of my tank to fit my inlet pipe through. It suctions to the front left of the tank to avoid the spray bar so its in full view. the back corners of my tank are planted and the filtration is terrible if the inlet is over there.

It all just blends in to the background after a while

I have now removed the Amazon sword.... Moved the wood with Anubias to the centre.... Placed some Java fern (on a small corral rock) on the left at the downpipe.... put in a bigger Red Lotus (if Biulu sees right - bulb plant) behind the wood with Anubias, and added some more (upright) Anubias on the extreme right..... (so I guess the theme of this tank is Anubias).....

I also have some (very poor condition) watersprite in the fishroom, but it is snail infected.... if there is scope for putting that in here and also lots of Hornwort...... (vibes still negative)

My concern now is ... There are no fish in here, so where will the plants get their fertilizer from and also, with all the moving around that I've been doing in the past week.... I'll be surprised if any of these grows......

I'd put one of the swords back in, in front of the intake tube. As it is now everything is basically at the same height which I find a bit boring.

And why no fish?

The lay out is lovely! I only agree with old spouse: put in a stemplant or another plant that adds height. And what about fish? How big was this tank again, you said? Some smaller fish should fit in or maybe even a gourami trio.

Now your getting somewhere. The latest pic is realy coming along now. The ball has snowballed for sure. Keep it up Ludwig :)

Looks pretty good from where I'm sitting Ludwig.
Each move you make seems to embellish the scape further.

Geeze!!... I can now see why Lljdma moved this over to "Journals".... I have to keep a finger on it and update every day.... Last night's photos were a bit "Murky" as I stirred up a little, but tonight the tank is bright and clear. You cannot see it from this angle, but in one day, the red Lotus (if Biulu sees it correctly).... has sent up some red leaves to the surface of the tank... floating leaves like a pond lilly)....BUT!!!!.... I notice quite a number of small snails on the front glass, which is one thing I was trying to avoid.

I have one Clown Loach in my outside pond... whose gonna be a "devil"..( ) to catch in a 2m diameter pond, but I'll move him in here to try control a snail epidemic.....

Here is the tank as it is tonight.

You can actually see some of the snails on the front glass.

I really like it. Looks good IMO :D Any ideas as to stocking yet?

Well yea!!.... Stocking!.... I've decided to chuck in a coupla Guppy males - basically just to fertilise the plants.... tank is not really big enough to consider much else.....

Here's an update:

Great tail colouration in those male guppies Ludwig, a much overlooked fish for todays over technical aquariums. Keep the females away and they look stunning.
Comming along nicely mate

Ooooo, guppies! Haven't kept those in a long time. Pretty. I'm still drooling over those anubias. They look great.

Well Big_C.... I can vouch for it.....done the test, and seen the results..... keep the females away and you produce some super specimens.... These males are all from my outside ponds (and not the best of ém, but only those I managed to catch) and the product of many generations (from 1994).....

I may be stoned for saying so, but (per capita) you can keep a lot more of them per square millimeter than any other fish..... (also from experience).... I'll fit another 30 males in there with ease..... Watch this space while I catch them @ 2 per day.....
