I'm Sceptical.... This Won't Work?

Ooooo, guppies! Haven't kept those in a long time. Pretty. I'm still drooling over those anubias. They look great.

Thanks Lljdma..... They actually look a lot better on the photos than in real life..... A number of them have black spots on the leaves _(Dunno why), but they have attached to the bogwood and are growing fast..... The Javas also has this problem.... I hope it'll go away under the new lighting (which I keep on 24/7 btw)

Any close up pictures of the black spots? I imagine its algae, which wont be helped by a 24hr photoperiod :p

Actually the 24h photoperiod will help the algae quite a bit, won't help the anubias, though.

Agreed... You're not being serious, LV, right?

Here are a couple of close ups of the black spots......

Nah!!!... I think it is time to dismantle..... I'm just not "Bonding" with this setup..... I think it is too small.

Tomorrow, I have a (2nd hand) 3ft delivered which I bought on our SA e-bay.... I'll try to convert that one into a planted.....

I am having the same black spots on my java fern. No clue what it is. Definitively no algae. Anybody knows what this is?

Agree... Definitely not algae.... looks more like cigarette burn marks on the leaves.....

However..... the tank is still running, (I've decided to use the new arrival (3ft tank) as my BN breeding setup, so now prospects of having a planted setup there)..... I do see a couple of new Anubia leaves developing though and it appears that the roots are getting well established to the Mopani wood..... so, I'll leave it for a while before making the final decision on dismantling the project.... (I mean.... if Llj can start a planted in a 50mg bottle..... Maybe I can do it in this mediocre setup)

It's ~15ml

I see growth in the tank, LV, so I wouldn't dismantle.

I'm a bit disappointed in the moss sheet on the left near the front..... I expected it to start spreading sideways to start forming my carpet, but it seems to be growing upwards only.....

and then also.... the Vallis I had at the back in the middle has disappeared.

I would cut it and put the cut strings on a new piece of mess besides the other one. This will be the best way to ensure the carpeting. If it grows too long, the moss underneath will die off due to a lack of light, so you need to trim this regularly.

Agreed, you must also clean that moss, LV. It is dirty with detrius. Clogged up stems and leaves will not grow. You can give the mesh a good shake in the tank, that should do it. Or, take a small syphon tube and gently vacumn.

Here is an update of my progress with this (mediocre) tank.... It did surprise me though and is looking better than I thought it'd be..... Am I ready to try for TOTM?? (again)
