Hi thanks for the advice guysIve been trying to find as much as I can but in the design industry grades seem irrelevant. All the way through college and uni you read these magazines and blogs that detail how you get into the industry after a degree and I never really believed it because to get your first step on the ladder you have to force your way in. Sometimes it becomes a bit like an impossible fairly tale with quests over mythical rainbows and finding keys behind enchanted water falls then you find the power cable to your mac after a battle with an ogre riding a unicorn then your seat comes from the throne of the princess that becomes your bride during your battle in the interview. But yeah it is all true but like I say just hoping this internship turns into a junior possition, one thing that isnt true about the design industry is the need for a fancy £200 portfolio in all my group interviews so far its been me and my friends from Hull with our £20 portfolios from our tiny stationers that have come out near the top
I work on a kind of free lance basis at the moment I do branding, advertising, promotion and generally would work alongside anything as a creative opportunity. I also do a bit of web and motion graphics as well. My website is www.iamahill.co.uk but its a bit out of date and was a bit rushed need to get the new one up pretty soon. But as for setting up my own business Im in Hull and there is this one company that just monopolizes a lot of the work here and the owner is such an idiot its unreal its not really design its just a good business man with a printing company.
Sorry if I came across as moody haha I wasnt trying to get at you just saying how lucky![]()
