I wasn't going to post this, but I'm annoyed and using the chance to vent... Please feel free to ignore this.

I came home from work at 6pm, headed out with the dogs and got back at about 9pm to find a guy I'd only ever met in passing parked on my drive.

He's a friend of a friend but I really don't know him and I've had virtually no interaction with him.

Obviously my friends know me as a fish guy, and clearly this particular friend has given the guy my address and told him to come to me with his issue. Needless to say I'm going to have to slap some sense into my friend the next time I see him.

The guy parked on my drive angrily told me that he was busy, I'd kept him waiting and called me a few choice names in the process. He told me that I'd been told he was coming and that I'd have the money for his fish.

I'd post what I replied with but I assume children are on this forum, obviously few of the words made it above 4 letters in length.

He had two damn boxes of bagged up fish in the back seat of his car, and another of nasty looking potted plants. He then tried to charge me £75 for the lot of them.

When I laughed in his face he then told me either I took them or they were going into the local canal, he had already got a buyer for the tank and wouldn't take them home.

Anyway, the end result is that I was left with the boxes of fish, plants and a bag of rock/wood (I didn't pay him). I've not looked through that last black bag to even check if it is all rock or if there is some wood too.

I've got 5 tanks in my house, 4 are occupied and the 5th is mid cycle and already earmarked for apistos. The rest of my tanks are in my fish room at my office, I have 2 quarantine tanks that are both currently occupied. One containing the results of an eBay purchase with a bad description and the other with some rams I was working on a tank for.

The only tank I had available was the tank the rams would be going into, and that was empty aside from some sand. It didn't even have water in it yet, so obviously it is uncycled and completely unready for occupants. As I had no choice I ended driving back to my office and throwing some wood and rocks in there, a filter and heater and calling it good.

I'm going to have to deal with this crap tomorrow, I think I've got enough media I can take from my other tanks in order to seed the filter, but if not I'm going to be doing some daily water changes I suppose.

I'm not even completely sure what's in there. I saw either platy or mollies, what looked like green tiger barbs, a few neons, and what I'm hoping was a bristle nose. There were certainly a good number of other fish in the 8 bags, but I'll have to look at that in the day.

I may see if I can unload these to my local fish shop unless I have tanks that already have the same species.

Anyway, I guess I should ask a question to go with the rant.

Have any of you had experiences that made you want to put hands on somebody, or just very angry?

I would have to say you are more tolerant than I am. I understand why you accepted the fish but I would have had an issue even getting to that point in the conversation. Definitely would be chatting with my friend.

Let me get this straight... He just turned up out the blue with a load of fish you knew nothing about expecting you to pay for them? Whaa?

Under normal circumstances I'm quite a passive guy, it takes a lot for me to react in a violent way. This time I would of happily hurt the guy, but I had my dogs with me... And with one of them, if I'm fighting we are both fighting. She's a good dog, very protective.

Exactly that, and contrary to what he told me I had not been told he'd be coming or that he was expecting cash. I could live with a random guy calling me for advice, but turning up at my door is another matter. I was far from pleased.

Wow!
To answer your question I got angry when my daughter's beautiful baby betta got mangled in the LoveFish filter. When I did some digging the company had been selling these death traps for 7 years and despite numerous complaints, continue to sell them.
Can you imagine the uproar if they sold equipment for dogs that killed them?

That's unbelievable. You have the patience of a saint.

Not really had an experience like that, but the workers (specifically the son - who's around my age or maybe a couple years older) are so grumpy and miserable it makes me want to pull my own eyes out. They don't speak to you, they never say thank you, they just stare at you and grumble no matter what you say to them. It doesn't take much to make me angry but this really winds me up.

My first question to the guy in the driveway is who the fuplie are you and what do you want?

Then after he asked for money, I would have said, I have no idea what you are talking about and nobody has called me or mentioned anything about this to me.

Tomorrow I would be having a chat to whoever sent the guy to your place and let them know if they do that again, I will bury them in the bush somewhere.

That is largely how the conversation went, although it took me a little while to become aggressive towards him. I certainly wasn't going to be giving him money for his unwanted stuff.

As for my friend, he may be a former friend depending how things go when I see him. I've been unable to contact him tonight, so I may have to find him tomorrow and see how it goes. Without my dogs this time. Haha

These days are hard times ... even pets owners with Dogs and Cats just left them out on the streets due to not able to keep them or feed them regularly with Pandemic on the loose. I guess everyone just wanna have a quick buck and trying to limit their liabilities as much as they can.

Yeah you are indeed a tolerant person if it was me .. I would already ignore an unwanted stranger fish or not in hand.

Every single fuplie time I see this kid named Emanuel, from my homeschool group. He’s like 12 and he is super short, which makes his taunting/degrading almost humorous... if he wasn’t taunting/degrading me.

I don’t know why he thinks he can treat people the way he does. He likes to make people feel terrible and enjoys seeing them suffer.

I tower him by at least 1 1/2 feet, which is why it’s almost funny.

Anyway, enough of my babbling:

Him: Take these fish for £75 or I’ll dump them in the canal.

You: How about I take the fish for free, and dump you in the canal.

HA. That is hilarious, but also awful. There was this boy at our old Homeschool/nature group thing and he was all making fun of my younger sisters like “you’re girls! There’s no way you can beat ME in a race because IM a boy” so my sister was like “uh huh? Let’s race“ so they raced across a field and my sister won by a long distance. It was hilarious, he huffed and puffed and complained that he was distracted
