If Ur A Fish Lover

Just because I like dyed fish doesn't make me bad. I bet some of you even EAT fish, should be ashamed of yourselves for doing that. The fish that are caught and killed for their meat usually die from being deprived of oxygen.
Yes it does.

I don't eat fish, even people who do are as bad as the people who knowingly like to buy dyed fish and those who dye them.

You need to get educated about the process of how they are dyed before you decide you like them because of the pretty colours.

This is a fishlovers forum and has no place for those who are fine with the suffering of fish for profit IMO.

I like Fish some taste really good when cooked right Sushi and Sashimi anyone? I Also like to fish practicing catch and release and only keeping anuff for the family to eat. But that doesnt mean I dont love my fishes. -_-

Well, I tried to put it in my signature, so I hope it worked.

This first post is my first test run with the sig.

Edited to say:

Woohoo, it worked ! :kana:

I added the glassfish one. The other day I went to my walmart, and saw dyed tetras as well. I've never seen an undyed glassfish at any LFS. People who do that are sick. At my other LFS I saw a tank full of dyed blood parrots... ugh. Just so you all know, my blood parrot is undyed.

What I think is sick is catch-and-release. People catch a fish, causing stress, pain and injury, then put it back in the water; just for entertainment. If you're going to catch fish; kill them humanely and eat it. I still eat fish; what they do to a fish is no worse than what happens to a chicken.

A couple times a year I have to go smelt fishing with my Dad to catch fish that they use for research at the university he works at. Generally, we either give the fish a harmless fin clip and release them or kill them humanely and keep them.

I thonk it is a little oerboard to call someone who eats fish as bad as someone who dyes them. when I catch a fish it club it or stab the brain so it dies with relatively little pain and its unconsious before its dead Its a much faster death and the fish gets to live a good life unlike any terrestrial animal that is commonly eaten. And they are not a bad person because of what they like they are only beeing a bad person if they buy one. You can't help your preferences but you can make good your own choices.

A buddy of mine at work says he use to dye fish at an old job and he said 80 percent is a load of crap. He said if it was that high who would even make a living out of it. He told me the dye they use for the fish isnt toxic and that its maybe 1-2 percent die but usually from stress and not the dye. Can you post the links or the book where you read it was 80 percent.

I'm not hypocritical. A fin clip, unlike coloring doesn't cause any significant injury to the fish. They are netted, a tiny bit of fin is cut off and they go back to the stream. My dads research is done to learn more about fish to help protect them. Like I said, the fish we do kill are stunned (or killed; we don't know wether they survive it) then their heads are removed. The same way you would kill an aquarium fish.
Eating fish is different. There, you are using it for something nessary, food. Anyone who supports dyeing fish, causing a shortened lifespan, pain and a high death rate just for a pretty color is sick.
